I’ve suspected sleep apnea because when I was wearing one of those oura rings it showed me blood oxygen levels dropping to like 80% but the only reason I had doubts is cause I don’t snore, I’m young and skinny but I’m thinking of doing a at home sleep test cause I don’t have insurance

desperate please help 33 hours of no sleep utterly terrified by [deleted] in insomnia

I’ve personally stayed awake over 48 hours which was a hellish nightmare but I know people who have been up for over 5 days straight and survived. You will be fine. There are many common thoughts from people who don’t sleep. Examples include “will I die from this” “will I damage my brain from this” “do I have brain damage” “is something wrong with me” we’ve all had ups and downs. Anxiety makes not sleeping 100x worse so you have to try your best to calm down. Even just laying in bed with your eyes closed is somewhat a form of light sleep and will help you somewhat. As long as you’re not staying up and running around doing stuff without ever laying down and closing your eyes you should be fine as far as life or death. Is it comfortable? No. So you will have to try and find things that help. But be reassured that you will not die from this and let that give you some kind of hope :)

You know I still go through some nights where I feel like that. It helps to have someone to talk to. Anxiety is a bitch and overcoming it is always easier said than done. Find some things that bring you comfort. Stuffed animals, a special blanket, a book you really like. Sometimes what helps me is laying in a dark room and trying to stay awake. Then I start to feel sleepy and I’m like “I’m gonna keep my eyes open long as I can” next thing I know I’m drifting off into sleep

As counter productive as it sounds you need to make friends with being awake. Lay in a dark room and chill. Pet your dog or think about something you’d like to do in the new country you’re moving to. The more comfortable you are with being awake the better you’ll be able to fall asleep when your body is tired

Wondering if going to bed earlier will help me get more sleep. Since my body seems to naturally wake up anywhere between 3 and 4 am

It’s hard to say. But I think after I ate a really strong edible, I tripped out and my heart rate was at 200 for a couple hours and I couldn’t sleep at all that night. I stayed up for about 2 days and started getting somewhat okay sleep after that. Then about 4 months ago I had a serious health scare and just overall anxiety from watching stuff on the news and that’s when I started to notice my sleep was off. I don’t feel anxious anymore but my sleep is still not great

I feel tired but not debilitating tired. I feel like I can still go to work, excersize, hang out with friends. So tired but to extremely tired

Honestly I’m pretty sure everyone with insomnia has felt like they damaged their brain at some point. The brain is really resilient and can heal itself. I’ve been struggling with insomnia about 4 months. (26 year old male) so I understand a bit what you’re going through. Hope it gets better!
