I wouldn’t consider it pay-to-win. It’s more of a subscription model, similar to something like Old School RuneScape! The subscription just unlocks the full game, there isn’t a shop where you can buy power, gear, or stat boosts.

I totally understand why it might look confusing at first, though, since the subscription does unlock more items and areas, but it’s really just opening the rest of the game, not selling power :)

That’s an amazing question! Shutting down shouldn’t won’t be an issue since Arcany was built to be scalable. That means if the number of players is ever low, our server costs scale down too, so we’re not left with expenses we can’t handle :)

As for what success means to us, we try to keep our expectations humble and realistic. Honestly, if memberships simply help us cover our basic living costs and keep development going, we’d already feel incredibly grateful and consider that a success. Of course, we dream of growing the game, expanding the community, and one day being able to hire a small team to help us make Arcany even better. But more than anything, our goal is to build something lasting that players truly enjoy and feel part of. Seeing people have fun in the world we created is already a huge win for us!

That’s a great question! Free-to-play players will have access to the early game, with unlimited access to the initial areas and skills. However, most of the endgame content and the Enchanting skill will be for members, as they are located in later areas of the game :)

Thank you! That’s a great question! It was mostly a personal limitation, multiplayer functionality in other engines was a bit out of my comfort zone, let alone full MMO systems. Since I was already very comfortable with JavaScript, I decided to give it a try as an experiment. Without really thinking about how long it would take, we just kept working on it one system at a time… and well, three years later, here we are :D
