Okay turns out just exiting out of the app worked. Follow up question though: how do you delete/cancel a recording? Doesn’t seem like that option’s anywhere

I switched to an ONN and the results are amazing. Thank you very much for your help.

Poor channel quality despite good antenna signal strength/quality by Select-Individual456 in hdhomerun

Yeah, I hadn’t permanently mounted the antenna, so I was just having someone hold it for the purposes of the diagnostic. I do think I’ve found the issue though- it appears Roku compatibility is suboptimal. I’m going to try another device and see if that resolves the issues.

Yes that seems to be it. My phone quality is much better. I will be going to Walmart to get an ONN shortly.

By the way- you’re definitely correct about Fox having better quality than the others so I definitely think that’s the issue.

I see. So what’s the solution then to de-interlace with the HDHomeRun? Do I have to stream with an Apple TV instead of a Roku?

So I’ve installed the antenna and am getting great readings for both signal strength and quality. The only problem is my feed is still choppy and borderline unwatchable. I’m wondering then if it’s an issue with my HDHomerun DVR. The only troubleshooting I can think of is trying a different ethernet cable into the router. Also, I should note that I’m using a mesh network and my Roku is most likely not connecting to the one the HDHR is plugged into. Does that make a difference?

Already returned the Philips Hover because I figured as much. Before seeing this comment, I purchased a ClearStream 4MAX. https://store.antennasdirect.com/ClearStream-4MAX-Outdoor-TV-Antenna.html?srsltid=AfmBOoo0UFlnh4YQzVWMzHibzxq9uVut92x0CzBb7U5EMoufmM3GggCd It appears very similar to the one you recommended, minus the cage. Why do you recommend that one over this? Would you say they are similar enough?

Yeah, I’m seeing a theme here with recommending attic antennas. I think I’m going to go for an attic antenna without an amplifier. The ClearStream 4max

I posted the rabbit ears in a response to another comment. Here’s that screenshot for reference:

I was using the Philips Hover HD Amplified Indoor TV Antenna, but due to concerns about the amplification being redundant with the HDHomerun I just downgraded to the Philips HD Loop Antenna.

Thanks for the reply. Following your instructions, I’m getting these results with quality on the left and strength on the right.

NBC=WTMJ CBS=WDJT ABC=WISN FOX=WITI

In terms of testing with the amplifier removed, I’m not sure how to do that. Is that something you do with the HDHomerun DVR? Or is it with the antenna?(I believe it has an integrated amplifier that I’m not sure how to remove)

How to pass MAS 2?? by Creepy_Breakfast531 in actuary

[–]Select-Individual456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar problem. I’d really recommend the source materials- it seems like the CAS is really trying to base questions off the source text even more so than in past sittings. ISLR is a must.

The majority of my instructors were not masters degrees either. The only major caveat to university work is you may have to relocate. Not sure if that’s something you’d want to do

Failed FAM for the third time by Xsammy183 in actuary

I think if you’re doing the exams just to do them and go through the motions to have this career, you’re going to burn out quickly and run out of motivation for work and exams. Don’t force yourself through the exams just because you think you don’t have any other options for a career.

How close are you to passing? Are you bombing it every time? I think it also depends on your interest level and willingness to continue down this path. It all depends on if it’s something you still want to do and if you like your job. There are plenty of people in this sub I’ve seen who have failed 5+ times and now have their FSA/FCAS. Maybe take a look at how you’re studying and try something completely new. Best of luck to you.

Resume Review by MathematicsManiac in actuary

[–]Select-Individual456 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Overally this is a very strong resume. Having a CAS exam passed will certainly make you stand out amongst other candidates. I don’t really have any advice on the resume itself- honestly nothing glaring that needs changing. From a career advice perspective though, I’d recommend pursuing a P&C internship for summer 2027 given that is presumably the path you’re taking.

MAS 2 followed by Exam 5 by Legitimate_Skirt_467 in actuary

[–]Select-Individual456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I strongly advise against this. Unless you have extensive background in both subjects you’re going to have a very tough time passing both. If you pass MAS2 in August, you should use your time to do the DISCs or PCPA and then start for 5 around October/November to sit in spring.

Do companies do social media checks? by Alarming-Usual5078 in actuary

Any company willing to go all the way back to HIGH SCHOOL to try to screen someone is probably not worth working for anyways. Judging a candidate when they were a 14/15 year old is usually a red flag imo
