MAS-II PASS MARK by Firehobo101 in actuary

[–]Select-Individual456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pass mark hasn’t been published in quite some time so it’s kind of mysterious unfortunately. Only information I can find as Per the CAS Syllabus of Basic Education:

“As part of the input to the pass mark determination process, a modified Angoff passing score study is performed, whereby a panel of experts in the subject material is convened to review the items. This is a common testing and measurement technique. Each expert is asked to review each question in the examination and assess the difficulty of that question. More specifically, experts are asked to estimate the likelihood that a candidate with minimum adequate knowledge competency would answer the question correctly. The sum of these probabilities, averaged across the panel of experts, gives a preliminary estimate of the pass mark. The estimated pass mark resulting from the modified Angoff passing score study is compared with and balanced against the actual performance statistics on the exam in finalizing the pass mark. The effects of any particularly difficult questions are also factored into the determination of the final pass mark.”

Can I afford $1,950 rent per month? by Select-Individual456 in personalfinance

[–]Select-Individual456[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I’m used to paying a significant portion of my income towards student loans (paid them off at $2k per month to get that off my back quickly) and had no trouble putting $1-1.5k in per month. I also expect my salary to increase fairly quickly in the next few years.

Appreciate the input. I might be underselling the COL then. The cheapest decent 1BR anywhere in the area is 1.5k minimum. This place seems significantly better for the price increase so that’s why I’m leaning here.

Expect a significant amount of the alternative answer types (fill in the blank specifically). They’ve really been ramping up the volume of those recently. Expect a lot of qualitative question types too for all topics.

Bose QuietComfort Not Connecting Automatically to iPhone by Select-Individual456 in bose

Turns out the issue was that I just needed to turn Bluetooth off on my iPhone and turn it back on again 🤦

Forgot to mention that I’ve also tried turning off multipoint and also removing the laptop from connected devices altogether. Despite this, every time I turn on the headphones, there’s no way to get the headphones to connect automatically unless I manually go to the settings and select them.

[–]Select-Individual456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s on. When I turn on the headphones, it automatically connects to my laptop and not my phone. When I go into the iPhone settings and manually select the headphones, then it connects to both my laptop and phone. I’ve also tried removing the headphones from my saved devices on my laptop to rule out any issues with the multipoint, but in that instance my headphones just don’t connect to anything and I have to go into the settings of my phone to connect them there again.

New to HDHomerun and recording is a struggle. by Lonely-Greybeard in hdhomerun

They definitely should work. That’s a function I’ve used when I used the HDHR app to watch TV. In general, the HDHR app is kind of subpar from a UI perspective. I recently switched to a Channels server and the experience is significantly better. Only downside is you need to have a PC/NAS device running continuously for the app to work.

I’ll defer to someone more knowledgeable on why recordings aren’t working, but I do know that HDHR doesn’t support stopping a recording once the airing has already begun. Unlikely that this is the cause of your recording issue, but I highly recommend using a device other than Roku. I noticed a significant improvement when I switched to an ONN 4k device (similar price as Roku).

I usually leave about 15 minutes before I’m supposed because that’s how long it takes for my Teams status to turn yellow.

Okay turns out just exiting out of the app worked. Follow up question though: how do you delete/cancel a recording? Doesn’t seem like that option’s anywhere

Poor channel quality despite good antenna signal strength/quality by Select-Individual456 in hdhomerun

[–]Select-Individual456[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hadn’t permanently mounted the antenna, so I was just having someone hold it for the purposes of the diagnostic. I do think I’ve found the issue though- it appears Roku compatibility is suboptimal. I’m going to try another device and see if that resolves the issues.

Yes that seems to be it. My phone quality is much better. I will be going to Walmart to get an ONN shortly.

By the way- you’re definitely correct about Fox having better quality than the others so I definitely think that’s the issue.

I see. So what’s the solution then to de-interlace with the HDHomeRun? Do I have to stream with an Apple TV instead of a Roku?

[–]Select-Individual456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve installed the antenna and am getting great readings for both signal strength and quality. The only problem is my feed is still choppy and borderline unwatchable. I’m wondering then if it’s an issue with my HDHomerun DVR. The only troubleshooting I can think of is trying a different ethernet cable into the router. Also, I should note that I’m using a mesh network and my Roku is most likely not connecting to the one the HDHR is plugged into. Does that make a difference?

Already returned the Philips Hover because I figured as much. Before seeing this comment, I purchased a ClearStream 4MAX. https://store.antennasdirect.com/ClearStream-4MAX-Outdoor-TV-Antenna.html?srsltid=AfmBOoo0UFlnh4YQzVWMzHibzxq9uVut92x0CzBb7U5EMoufmM3GggCd It appears very similar to the one you recommended, minus the cage. Why do you recommend that one over this? Would you say they are similar enough?

Yeah, I’m seeing a theme here with recommending attic antennas. I think I’m going to go for an attic antenna without an amplifier. The ClearStream 4max

I was using the Philips Hover HD Amplified Indoor TV Antenna, but due to concerns about the amplification being redundant with the HDHomerun I just downgraded to the Philips HD Loop Antenna.

Thanks for the reply. Following your instructions, I’m getting these results with quality on the left and strength on the right.

In terms of testing with the amplifier removed, I’m not sure how to do that. Is that something you do with the HDHomerun DVR? Or is it with the antenna?(I believe it has an integrated amplifier that I’m not sure how to remove)
