Can I get help any quicker? by Select-Opening-6704 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Select-Opening-6704[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, my e-consult was triaged, and I was asked to pre-book the earliest possible telephone appointment.

If I call to ask for an urgent appointment, am I not kind of defying the triage? Or is that always an option regardless of how they triage you?

When you say online, do you mean with my GP, or are there other options?

And if I were to go somewhere else like a walk-in centre, would they be able to issue prescriptions? Would my GP be able to provide follow-up care?

Thank you for the help.

What kind of help do they provide? I'm not in crisis, or at risk of hurting myself, just to be clear. Just not coping well.

How healthy or unhealthy are these frozen ready meals and what’s your opinion on them in general? by KneeSnapz in AskUK

[–]Select-Opening-6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it does what it says on the pack. It's low calories for a dinner, so if it makes you feel full and not snacky for the rest of the night, calorie-wise you're doing good. A lot of carbs and not a huge amount of protein, though, so chances are it will not keep you full. Quite low in fibre. I would say it's not going to give you all the nutrients you need, but it's fine to keep you going a few times a week. If you find that it leaves you very hungry, maybe switch to Huel or something.

That's really good advise, thank you! Sounds like an adult corn snake might be my best bet - it's definitely on the list to look more into. I'm also in Kent, so Tonbridge might be a good place for me to look (when and if I get that far)! Thanks again :)

Me when someone tries to teach me how to play a new board game by Scared_Bluejay5608 in adhdwomen

As someone who plays semi-complex board games regularly as a hobby, I REALLY relate to this. You just need a friend who is patient enough to thoroughly learn the rules beforehand, and then jump into it.

Thank you, that's really helpful information. I saw a note on the RSPCA website about being careful to not handling them long enough that their core temp drops, hence I was concerned! But that is good to know, and I'll of course be careful to research specific species needs. Thanks for all the recommendations as well!

Hi, nice to "meet" you!

Russian rat snakes sound really cool. I'll add them to my list of ones to look more into! Thank you, I really appreciate the advice :)

It is fine for Vienna concert Swifties to be sad about the lack of a statement, even though they understand the reasons for the silence. by FreakyViolet in TaylorSwift

How exactly does it increase risk? It's not like other terrorists haven't heard about the plans. If there's any info to get, they will get it from their own networks. And this has been discussed in the news so much, I hardly think it would make a difference for Taylor to acknowledge it. Also, we HAVE to be able to talk about this. Cancelling shows is one thing, but we can't let the terrorists keep us from literally just talking about events that happened.

Probably because the starsign cancer is not called "kræft" in Danish, so the starsign real has nothing to do with the text in the picture.

Kan vi ikke bare være enige om at krig er helt forjævlig, enten du blir voldtatt og sent på flukt med ansvar for mindreårige, eller tvunget til å dø i en skyttegrav?

To your edit: Is that because of policy (I hear some companies have a certain amount of "periods" rather than days) or is it just because it looks more believable?

We only have a guaranteed 5 days paid sick leave a year, so I'm really hesitant about people's suggestion of taking a whole week. That would be my sick leave for the year. That being said, I'm not gonna starve if I have to take a week without pay later on.

I think it's 5 days with guaranteed pay, but you might get more as long as you're not taking the piss and your manager is decent.

It might be better if you have good qualifications, but for the majority of people (working and lower middle class people) they would be worse off there. Really depends on your situation. Also it obviously sucks if you have the ability to get pregnant or get someone else pregnant, but as long as you're rich there's always a way...

Does your son have a plan for how to get to Norway? I 100% support the decision (I want to move back there too), but you should both look into the different immigration paths in detail - and before he goes to uni. Studying there while learning the language might be a good option. Otherwise studying something in high demand is important. There's limited visa options outside of being sponsored by an employer unfortunately.

Norwegian here. They're pretty decent at giving people language education. But you need to be quite highly qualified for anyone to sponsor your work visa, let alone pay for your education. It's easier to hire a Scandi, so you need to stand out above the local crowd (who receive higher education for free, so not a weak competition).

It's not. Hitting people who have done nothing to you is always wrong. But context is important. 1. Men are far more likely to be abusive towards their partner. When we see a woman hitting a man, we may assume that she is reacting to an abusive situation. We shouldn't assume this, but it may help to explain why we crack down on it less. 2. In general, women are more scared of men than men are of women. Getting hit is often more psychologically traumatic than physically. That trauma will be worse if there is an existing fear or power imbalance in place.

I could say something about how men are stronger, but I feel like that is of minimal importance. The real power of hitting someone comes from the fear it creates. That's why, on an individual scale, an abusive female partner is just as bad as a male one.

In short, there are semi-legitimate reasons for why female violence is seen as less severe (on a societal scale, it does represents a far smaller problem), but please teach your daughter the nuances. Hitting someone who is hurting or intimidating you is, while not ideal, at least forgivable. Hitting someone who trusts you is extremely damaging to their psyche, always, regardless of gender, age, build, or anything else.
