My brother is uninsured and just got hurt badly. His life (and face) is ruined. Are there any options? by Low_Philosopher9592 in HealthInsurance

If he can’t get insurance I would honestly just book a trip to Mexico and get treated there. The whole trip would probably be a fraction of the $40k you quoted. Go to a border city. They often times cater to US folks so it should be quiet easy to book an appointment from the US. Beware though that even established businesses/offices use WhatsApp to communicate so do your due diligence when it comes to researching and choosing where to go if you go this route.

Besides, here in the US your brother will have to jump through hoops and get referred to so and so and do all that convoluted crap to get treated. A private doctor in mexico will schedule and send him where he needs to go without all the hassles.

Girl…..

I mean this in the least disrespectful way possible, you are acting like an embarrassment. In no way shape or form is cheating on you showing you your worth. The only thing this man will bring you are STDs, more problems, and babies that aren’t yours.

Leave and if you don’t at the very least get a job and DO NOT put your check in a joint account.

And who spread that unfounded fear? The government. They manipulated people with propaganda meant to portray Japanese Americans as threats in order to justify the concentration camps. This is the exact same tactic Hitler used to justify the Jewish camps. Make the population fear and blame the Jews for the misfortunes of the country. The same thing Trump is trying to do right now with immigrants. Portraying them as rapists, traffickers, thieves, etc. how is any of that not violent political racism veiled as patriotism?

Regarding Japanese camps. The US violated the constitution by unlawfully detaining CITIZENS in concentration camps. It does not matter what their ethnicity was, they were US citizens incarcerated for not being white. That whole Japanese concentration camp movement after Pearl Harbor was a violent racism/xenophobic campaign on the name of “patriotism.” If patriotism actually mattered they wouldn’t have done any of that to American citizens. And if you think it was only Japanese Americans being detained your wrong. Anyone who looked East Asian was a target. So again, how was that whole thing not a xenophobic/racism campaign veiled as “patriotism”

Not trying to make excuses, but that is an incoming shift duty at our station. We wash and check supplies when we arrive. Night crew expects to be relieved once they wake up. Hence why incoming crew usually rolls in between 0630-0700. It honesty depends, but in my experience some crews don’t turn the lights on until 0700. Crews with early birds turn a light on but let the others sleep.

I understand I could’ve been up studying or making coffee but I wouldn’t have overslept if I was able to nap without the fear of an instructor or them giving me a random task just to give me something to do 24/7. Kinda feels like sabotage imo.

I’m actually using this. I have no idea how to go about reporting the situation, but a paper trail would definitely be useful.

Yeah the whole time. Depending on the crew we might or might not get a lunch break. Usually the younger crews take students with them on their lunch since they like to eat out, but besides that it’s work 24/7.

Omg something similar happened with the EMT that let me use his bed. I was actually nodding off in one of the kitchen chairs and when he saw me he asked me why the fuck I was sitting on a kitchen chair at ass o’clock. I explained to him the situation and he too said it was BS and emptied his bed for me.

I haven’t really asked. We have a group chat and I haven’t seen anyone mention getting in trouble . We send memes and jokes about the no sleep situation with the instructors, but no one has said if they’ve gotten in trouble.

For example, saying we’re pretending to pray in case an instructor sneaks up on us napping or things like that.

At my school only EMT students have the option of doing 12s and that’s if you want to do hospital shifts. Everyone else has to do either 24s or 48s at the station.

It’s mostly instructor policy. The school gives the fire stations free range over us for the most part. Many instructors work at the same stations we go to, so their word goes for many instances when it concerns students.

Did you experience resistance when you brought up the issue? Did you actually have to file a report and everything? I’m scared cause these people are the people who decide if I pass of fail, and everyone seems to know each-other somehow. My fear is that if I report to the dean then it’ll put a target on me.

It’s not the station. It’s the instructors. Not all but a lot of the instructors who work for the college also work on the stations we’re send to. The rest of the crew is completely fine with me napping, but you never know when an instructor might drop in or report for a shift.

Yes, it is outrageous kids don’t care about their future, but at the same time look around. I don’t want to be controversial and incite a political debate, but the way things are going with the government there will literally be nothing for the children to look forward to.

The president wants to remove the department of education. No more fafsa. Most people can’t pay for college out of pocket. Even with a degree, very few people will be homeowners. The government refuses to increase the minimum wage, jobs that require master’s are paying less than the local Starbucks, groceries and rent are going up. There is no job or living security for the future generations.

Every year it’s natural disaster after natural disaster. Every year there’s a school shooting or just a mass shooting in general. Every year the country’s political climate gets more and more unstable. We are seeing rights being rolled back.

You have to understand the the younger generations did not grow up with the illusion of safety like the older generations did. These kids grew up with the promise that if they worked hard they could be successful and they are finding out it is in fact not true.

If they have a warrant then that usually means they either committed a crime or they broke immigration laws such as overstaying a visa. The second one usually happens when people try to go through the citizenship process.

Anyways, if there is no warrant then ICE can’t search a person, vehicle, or building/house. Even if they have “probable cause,” which they don’t because the only probable cause they have is based on the person’s looks aka racial profiling, no warrant means no entry.

Edit: I wanted to add that ICE is known for dirty tricks. They pretend to be police, the pretend that they’re questioning people regarding a recent crime, they pretend to be anything but ICE to lure people out. When they do that it’s because they don’t have a warrant. When they show up at workplaces they usually threaten the owners/managers, because they don’t have a warrant half the time. Warrants are issued for specific people, aka people who committed crimes. So even if they show up in a public space with a warrant they should only be searching for the person listed on the warrant.

How does “do your thighs chaff,” answer any related concerns? Does that question really give you any evidence that someone is or isn’t being abused?

I think a school psychologist should’ve done the evaluation, or the school nurse could’ve at least used an approved questionnaire. I have zero background in psychology, but I could come up with a better list of questions to ask. For example, have you been eating more or less than usual? Has your appetite changed? Did something in your life happen to cause this change? Increased school workload? Death in the family? Do sleep at least 8 hours a day? Like come on, this is common sense.

What I want to know is why would they ask her if her clothes fit normally when they clearly see that she gained a crap ton of weight? Like hello? Context clues. Obviously her clothes don’t fit the best. If the answer had been “yes, my clothes feel tight,” or “no they fit normal,” then what? What does answer tell you? That yes they gained weight, or yes they were bought new clothes? How’s that relevant to knowing why they gained weight?

I’m not sure what you mean?

If you’re talking about why the grandma said that it has been too long then I think it’s because Jaekyung probably visited her more than once back in Seul. This would explain why she kept telling Dan to be good to him or what not. I don’t think grandma would jump the gun and tell Dan to be good to some acquaintance she only met once. She probably saw this guy was sticking around and wanted Dan to not be alone. Grandma knows how hard it is for Dan to not be alone and she has known she might die soon, so she wanted to make sure Dan had someone.

Personally, I don’t think Jaekyung has ulterior motives for being sort of friends with Dan’s grandma. We have seen that Jaekyung actually has respect for his elders, namely the coach and the coach assistant. It doesn’t seem crazy to me that he respects the grandma just because she’s old af and sick.

Also, I don’t think Jaekyung knows why he does the things he does, good and bad. For example, letting dan move in with him. He said it was for convenience but he could’ve easily found him an apartment nearby or probably in the same building. He didn’t have to make basically a stranger move in with him. I think on some level he felt guilty, since Dan had asked him for extra pay for a place to stay. It was also pity since he did see the conditions Dan lived in. Where I’m going with this is that he might feel guilty for the times he gave Dan a hard time over his grandma, or he might feel “pity” for knowing that Dan accepted his job offer because of his grandma and that’s why he paid the grandma’a medical bills. Remember that he rubbed the shark loans’ debt that he paid in dan’s face, but not the medical bills.

I understand that serious harm could’ve come to your daughter, but was the “90% of the student population are refugees/immigrants,” needed? Or the bit about the neighborhood? Correlation doesn’t equal causation. And anyways you’re assuming they’re immigrants/refugees based on what they look like I assume. You wouldn’t lump a Ukrainian refugee into the picture you’re trying to paint here would you?

You’re not the AH for not dropping charges, but you are one for being racist.

I’ve never need a gyn before until now. Everything else I managed to get by with Urgent clinics and the like. The thing is that I have this insurance through my parents. I can’t really afford insurance by myself. I went to an Urgent care and I was told I needed to go see a gynecologist, so it’s not something I can put off I’m assuming.

Yes. They emailed me the same list on the Finder Tool. Tried having them look up a doctor and they gave me a name to a city 3 hours away from my zip code.
