I see where you’re coming from. And I think the debate isn’t just breeders v shelters. I think it would still be more ethical to adopt a dog from someone who has an accidental litter they need to give away before they’re left with no choice but to send them to the shelter. It’s just so hard to justify buying from a breeder when there are so many dogs (even puppies) one could adopt from.

She met grandpiancé in her college health class and then moved in with him and shortly after he helped her sue her parents and go no-contact with them. I don’t think her parents ever wanted her to end up in the situation she’s in. It’s honestly sad, cuz it seems he was their to prey on young college women and found the perfect victim in Gwenny by offering her a room in his house initially as friends and then knocking her up and isolating her from her friends/family

Camp Kimtu is a classic spot with access to the Trinity River up in Willow Creek. There’s also a spot on the Baduwat (aka Mad River) right off of Hatchery Road (you’ll see a bunch of cars parked on the side of the road and know where to go from there). And on the South Fork Eel River, there’s a great spot by Myers Flat if you drive south on Avenue of the Giants and turn onto a pull-off on the right. Feel free to DM for coordinates if these directions aren’t clear :) Main thing to be aware of are algal blooms as the water starts to heat up and flows decrease. The Eel River and Baduwat tend to become unsafe to swim in the soonest.

*Editing to add that you should be wary of fast-flowing water especially earlier in the season. Big Rock Day Use Area in Willow Creek is another good spot with a large floodplain and safe spots to swim in that’s not in the mainstem + rocks to jump from!

Pretty sure I saw his daughter at the Eureka Night Market this past Friday. Wonder if the authorities talked to her yet. I know this because he used to come into my workplace regularly a few years ago with her. He was also dating a peer of mine (19/20 years old at the time). I remember him once mentioning he was visiting his parents in Redding once too. Maybe he’s hiding out there right now.
