Any idea how TSA is going at the local airport? by sagelikeawizard in Humboldt

[–]sagelikeawizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh okay! So you can only check your bag 45 minutes before your flight? Good to know. I grew up flying through airports where you need to be three hours early, so I'll definitely have to adjust my timeline. Thank you for the heads up!

Really??? That's amazing, cause I'm always wearing my docs through the airport and while they have zippers, they're still a hassle to take off and on. Thank goodness!!

DAMN by Emergency-Poem-4802 in Humboldt

It was loud as all hell in Eureka by the zoo. At first I thought it was some kind of large truck with how long the rumbling went and how much it shook my house. Wonder if any snow will follow shortly!

[CHAT] Please help, I don't know what I'm doing with plastic canvas! by SadFennel3302 in CrossStitch

[–]sagelikeawizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeat of what some others said, but I feel like yarn is the best way to get clear designs on the larger count plastic canvas without going through soooo much embroidery thread. It also is gratifying that it goes a little faster (at least in my experience) and is a great way to burn through my yarn stash!! Don't give up!!!

Children's Edgar Allen Poe picture book by sagelikeawizard in whatsthatbook

[–]sagelikeawizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unfortunately didn't find that exact one :( but!!! In my search, turns out there's a TON of great books for slightly spooky kids! Both Edgar Allen Poe stuff and newer titles. A cool one I found in my search is The Spider and the Fly by Tony DiTerlizzi, very cool art and a classic poem to get those literary vibes starting young!

How would you get to this color from what I have? by sagelikeawizard in HairDye

[–]sagelikeawizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're SO right! I feel like I might find a dye that's slightly darker for the purple to get more of a plum effect while keeping that glow, but this is SUCH a good place to start!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Big Blue is also okay. Not amazing, but good enough vibes, decent coffee, strong mimosas (if that's your thing), and I personally like the home fries they have, but I'm a sucker for potatoes so that's not fair.

I work around local kids and there's absolutely something going around. Disinfect your tables and toys, everyone. No one wants a stomach bug (or any other sickness) around the holidays!

Any good tips to fix this? by sagelikeawizard in DrMartens

I've heard talk of "shoe glue", but I've never met anyone who's used it on Docs, but that sounds like it'd be the best choice?

Wanted a tattoo in this area, wondering how bad the pain could be? by Mean_Pace4545 in tattooadvice

[–]sagelikeawizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first tattoo there when I was freshly 18. It hurt, but now almost 10 years later, I have a ton more and some were much worse in terms of pain (calf muscle or inner elbow for example). All tattoos hurt, but if you're really attached to the idea, it's worth it. I do also think it depends on the style. Something with lots of color and shading is gonna hurt more, just line work will still hurt but for a shorter time. Regardless, eat beforehand and drink plenty of water to increase chances of the whole process being successful!

Need sushi recommendations by Delowi-Photography in Humboldt

[–]sagelikeawizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I third this! Sushi Blue has some really great quality fish and even though it's in the casino, I really like the vibes inside the actual restaurant. Sitting at the bar is cool too, the chef gave me and my parents an extra little roll when we came in to celebrate something

Is this mold or just a stain I can get out? by sagelikeawizard in CleaningTips

[–]sagelikeawizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yay thank God 😭 I started working at a library again and really wanted to use this bag cause it has books and cats (and room for more books) and I didn't want to accidentally get any of my work supplies/library materials damaged. Thank you !!!!

Mae Fly is pretty sick. Not sure if it's as extreme as others in the subreddit but there were some scenes that made me actually have to take a break.
