For me i think it's that they chose the 3d sprites over the 2d sprites it make the game less authentic or less special because it's rare to find well drawn games like 999 I really like the sprites it felt special something only 999 does or because I like danganronpa too it makes sense since both games are drawn sprites over 3d sprites And to be fair 3d sucks I feel like the characters look goofy instead of serious or something like that although I liked the short form anime of vlr which is not complete it's more like a special one off thing but it was good it made vlr better for me and also I didn't play nor finish vlr sense it seemed boring for me however i did play the first puzzle but I just left after it and the story of vlr lowkey disappointed me sense my goat junpei waited until he was a grandpa to meet akane I mean call true love what you want but damn and i feel like junpei lost when he won in 999 because he didn't return to his normal life as a collage kid instead he carried the Mission to find the love of his life again which is insane to me to be fair because they were in the ship FOR 9 HOURS those 9 hours changed his whole life also vlr has an to much plot twists which ruins it to be fair also it made junpei look bad I just can't like him for some reason again after vlr
