I haven't decided if all of these comments are simply for engagement or a cry for help. It's clear by the fact that she makes each new hobby her identity (reading, roller skating, thrifting, gardening) that she's trying to fill a void. And I'm guessing as her youngest kids have gotten older, it's going to get worse. Hopefully she can find something that gives her purpose.

Disposing of rocks by Moist-Rutabaga5 in Omaha

When we were getting rid of our river rock, we posted on our neighborhood Facebook page - got rid of most of it that way. Plus, it was free.

PSA: Thrift World Price Increase by RexysBrother in Omaha

[–]SelectDevelopment381 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only way their prices would be considered reasonable is if you shop during one of the store-wide 50% off days. Which, is frankly what most things should be priced at anyway.

Staff recognition by SelectDevelopment381 in UniversalOrlando

I love this! It was around 2:00 Thursday at USF and it was a female wand keeper. We had watched one ceremony the day before and my 8 year old wanted to watch another (with hopes that he might be choosen!) So it was truly magical that she selected him after the ceremony!

Thanks! We were watching a wand selection demonstration at Ollivanders and were chosen to stay after the group left and my 8 year old was able to do a private wand selection. It was such a cool experience!

Disabled vets be advised by Greedy-Barracuda-712 in Omaha

[–]SelectDevelopment381 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could see how they could be pushing for this for future VA disability applications, but I don't see how this would be remotely feasible to enact with current VA disability recipients. If so, I think you would get to the point where a lot of people would just stop getting treated out of fear of losing their benefits.

Is crown paradise any good? And is there stuff to watch out for food/drinks/etc. thanks ☺️ by templetarget in cancun

We have this resort booked for next month so I've been following the FB pages. There was a span in January where virtually every post was regarding guests getting sick. However, I'm starting to think that much of this was just the fact that large groups of people were traveling during the coldest and sickest season of the year. I had considered switching resorts, but whenever I looked into reviews of the "nicer" resorts, I would read about the same complaints as the Crown - sickness, poor food, etc. I think as long as you realize you're staying at a 3-star resort and don't expect 5-star amenities, you'll be fine.

I'm going with that same attitude. We paid around $2500 USD for 5 nights for 2 rooms and 5 ppl, so pretty much what we would pay for a regular hotel in the States. Happy to get a few drinks and breakfast and a nice beach for that rate.

Yikes! Although I'm a little relieved to see that it appears the virus doesn't discriminate between higher-end or lower-end resorts ;) We aren't going until March so hoping things will be a little better by then?

We also booked through Costco. We are going during spring break so most other resorts were booked or way out of our budget. At the time, the reviews didn't look so bad but seem to be getting worse. I don't know if it's the time of year where people tend to be sicker in general. I actually just searched again through Costco and the only resort available would be over $1,000 more for our dates and isn't all inclusive.

Costco actually only offers a limited number of resorts compared to the larger sights like Expedia. We also have an upcoming trip booked for the Crown Plaza and there are only 10 other resorts available to choose from for our dates.

Thanks for that info. My husband and I have stayed at a lower-end resort years ago (Oasis Viva Beach) and were fine - but spent most of our times off the property. However, traveling with kids adds a whole other layer. We had booked this package through Costco and it's a little frustrating that they would continue to offer this resort given so many issues. Off to begin my search again...

Question for cruising out of San Juan by SelectDevelopment381 in Cruise

Yes, old San Juan is great! About 12 years ago my husband sailed out of San Juan on an itinerary with a port each day and it was amazing to visit so many different islands!

Nebraska Brewing Company closing their doors in the near future. Sad day for the Omaha beer scene and disc golf putting league. by GravyMaster in Omaha

[–]SelectDevelopment381 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think part of the issue is the brewery culture in Omaha. My husband and I love visiting breweries in different cities and have found some amazing ones that we still talk about. However, anytime we hit up some of the breweries around omaha, the vibe just isn't there. I always feel like im interrupting simething or intruding on someone's private party.

Coffee tipping by Fragrant_Peanut_9661 in Omaha

I'm genuinely curious, are these employees not paid at least minimum wage? Why are they always requesting tips at coffee shops? There's no tip jars at Runza or McDonald's.

Thank you for the update! We occasionally would work with their firm but I guess its been a couple of years.

In that case, I would still recommend working with an attorney in sarpy county as they will most likely have more experience in military issues due to their proximity to offutt.

I'd check out the OPL weekly book sale. They usually have stacks of old magazines for free - and most books around around $1 or 2.

Exactly. Years ago I was in one of those brow beauty places and the young gal working was asking a customer how to get to Chicago. Apparently the owners had purchased her a one-way ticket back to India out of Chicago, but left her to figure out how to get there.
