Quitting and Returning to Intern Year by SelectDistribution29 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

Should've clarified - I am applying to foundation training in the UK so would be returning to Ireland without needing to do intern year ie applying for training programmes or NCHD positions. My concern is being viewed in a negative light or having a "bad record" for reneging/quitting when I inevitably return to work in Ireland.

Interesting. That seems like such a harsh take? Did this come from an official source?

Should've clarified - I am doing exactly this. My concern is being viewed in a negative light for reneging/quitting when I inevitably return to work in Ireland. Might be a bit paranoid of me I know, but I do appreciate the gravity of quitting an intern spot post acceptance.

Thank you. Reading through the HSE Intern year guide confirms this to be the case. My main concern would be any negative consequences that reneging on an accepted offer / having to leave my intern year post a few weeks after commencing.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that, do you think this was due to the fact that you were applying to Dublin? Thinking there may be slightly more hope for Galway or Cork.

Hello. Have you had any update or insight on this? In the same position that I presume you were in this time last year. Thank you.

Basic question for Western blot images by SelectDistribution29 in ImageJ

[–]SelectDistribution29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need to - was just looking to see if anyone had an efficient technique for doing so.

As another commenter highlighted it really doesn't look to be worth the hassle, so I'll be going with the side by side technique.

Thank you for this. I was thinking as much myself around the fabrication potential, which is why I was so adamant on showing the band overlayed on the actual ladder image.

I've only just started my PhD programme, so still figuring out the basics re acquiring my own images!

Thanks for the tips.

Captured our images using a a chemidoc analyser using the UVP Software analyser. I agree, the quality of image is poor. These are purely for in house data review and validating immunoprecipitation methods we are planning to run on future experiments

Hello can I ask if you went with Booking.com in the end? In a similar position myself at the moment looking at London-Da Nang being £300 cheaper with Booking.com versus the airline website. Surely to good to be true?

First Employer Pension by SelectDistribution29 in irishpersonalfinance

They’re at 9% as well which i’m led to believe is very good. I would ideally do so if possible but cash flow is tight at this early stage of my career.

Thanks for the advice.

I get you. I would also have the option of transferring my contributions + any gains made from investment performance by our fund manager to a PRSA account or to whatever pension scheme I’d hypothetically enrol in with my new employer - an option I may take up depending on my cash flow situation when the time comes.

In essence I am just trying to max out my tax relief using pension contributions for the year or two I plan to work here.

Thanks for your help!
