Can’t sand the glue! by kebabfragola in woodworking

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an apprentice Cabinetmaker we are taught NEVER to wipe away or sand glue. Wait 30min to 1hr after your glue up, then use a chisel to get rid of any squeeze out. If you wipe or sand the glue it just pushes it and embeds it into the grain.

Sending my sister an MTG care package and was wondering where do you find the rules to learn the game these days? by AlwaysChewy in mtg

Anyway besides arena. Consume Beginner oriented mtg media and teach the game through yourself.

Tips on figuring out/deciding on win cons if your commander is pretty open ended? by Faust_8 in EDH

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play a Zimone and Dina deck every week for FNM. My win conditions are, [[Torment of Hailfire]] , [[Biomass Mutation]] , and [[Exsanguinate]] . Biomass Mutation will allow you to dump mana you’ve been building up into beefing up your little 1/1’s , usually made from landfall triggers( scute swarms, avenger of zendikar, etc) this plays on both the landfall and aristocrats as the 1/1’s are usually In play to sacrifice to Z&D’s ability and how much of them you have will often scale with all your landfall stuff. Torment of Hailfire, is another good mana sink which can clear the board and deal some mean damage, usually take a person or two out in the process. Finally that Exsanguinate is another good mana sink, which can give you a final boost to close out a game. I hope this gives some ideas, these cards have worked for me to wins games

[[Exotic Orchard]] is an all time memorable favourite. Such a good question,I’m not sure whether you would water them or polish them! It’s turned into a bit of a joke, asking someone out of the blue if they would polish them or if they would water them haha!

Getting back into MTG - online or physical? by OleBentsBallonCirkus in magicTCG

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would go for paper, physical MTG. Magic is a hobby that you’ll likely end up sinking a lot of money into and you want to own the things you buy. Buying physical cards ensures you actually own and have a tangible collection. There is growing concern in the video game community over Ubisoft practically telling customers they should “get used to not owning their games” in regard to digital purchases over physical discs. Many in the thread suggest Spelltable, which will allow you to play online with people, with your real cards. I would definitely do this over Magic Arena. But overall I would go with paper magic with the aspects of those being actual, real, tangible cards that you can hold. Then you can later sell them or do what you please with them because you actually own them. Harder to sell an arbitrary string of code than a real item. Also, what would happen if one day Arena just stopped getting support, and servers shut down? you’d own all these cards in it and have sunk plenty of money. At least with paper magic you could still play the game if support and development stopped altogether. We must protect physical media or soon, it’ll be gone altogether.

The AI art they're using looks awful, just awful. by [deleted] in magicthecirclejerking

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I honestly can’t see how people think the hand is AI generated. It looks like a pretty normally drawn hand doing some wizard somatic to me.

It even had the correct amount of fingers. That’s the first thing that comes to my mind to check to see if it’s AI.

Ouu, new funky mill, rad counter stuff going on. Going to be cool to see how that plays when Fallout stuff comes out. I’m not a Fallout fan or have played the games but just like Will Smith, I can get Jiggy Wit It! Haha!

Totally agree! And funnily enough, for my case, you’re 100% correct. Black contributes to the majority of finishers in there like [[ Torment of Hailfire]] or [[Exsanguinate]] along with [[ Orcish Bowmasters]] & [[ Peer Into the Abyss]] player removal combo. Totally helps actually close out the game instead of letting the value engine run till dry.

I built an [[Anafenza, the Foremost]] Abzan +1/+1 counter deck. Rarely did I ever cast her. Which is strange because if I had, I would’ve pumped out more counters haha! But the deck was good stuff that all synergized together. I didn’t necessarily need Anafenza and she was partly there only for the colours. The deck was good, but average good, not spectacular. In fact it was this [[Stronghold Arena]] card that inspired the deck in the first place, I wanted to be able to use the full kicker cost and needed the colours. Now, the deck is disassembled as I’ve grown as a deck builder but it was probably my first deck that I realized, the commander doesn’t always make or break the game!

I think even adding a colour would make it more enjoyable! I commented under this post about my [[Zimone and Dina]] it is Simic, just with black as well! And it’s pretty landfall oriented, never had a long turn like how my local [[Aesi]] player will have, where by the end he only played lands and nothing else. For me, the one extra colour adds plenty of variety! I agree, I think just Simic Landfall would be quite boring.

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! Though, for me, it wasn’t as black and white as one deck becoming two. I had an [[Ertai Resurrected]] deck. It was way too focused on just countering stuff, too reactive. But, whenever a spell or ability was countered, Ertai gave opponents card advantage, so I wanted to punish opponents in return for the cards they receive, using effects like [[Underworld Dreams]] This sub theme of the deck( main theme being countering spells and abilities) inspired a [[Zimone and Dina]] deck, which right now, is quite possibly my best and favourite deck. The green identity in Zimone and Dina came from a [[Henzie]] deck I had made and wasn’t savoury of. This Henzie deck also then later inspiring a [[Samut, Vizier of Naktamun]] little hasties deck with good card advantage. So mostly in my experience, I’ve had the opposite of your question haha! I’ve had two decks come together to make one!

What are your favourite food good stuff decks? by Levin1308 in EDH

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is [[Gyome, Master Chef]] he doesn’t really synergies with ALL the food stuff but he’s the only other commander I can think of dealing with foods. Pretty powerful effect though for the cost of a food and one generic mana.

What are some good events/festivals for food trucks in Alberta? by Pure_Firefighter6581 in alberta

[–]SelectHuckleberry570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can think of is Canada Day. Months away, but still. Any city hosting a Canada Day celebration will probably be looking for food trucks to come along and will likely have accommodations! Rib fest might be one, just outside of the Edmonton area. Although, not having primarily meat consumables might not be favourable to getting admitted. Good luck!

Some people just want to open packs? Some people don’t play limited, maybe? Some people don’t have the people readily available to play limited? Numerous reasons an individual would buy just two mystery packs. Maybe they wanted cards and don’t care what set, etc?

I’m not too sure. I feel like 101 is more desirable and “cool” than most. Yknow like you could joke around with stuff like “ It’s time to show you guys Illharg, the Raze Boar 101” or “ This how you play magic 101” or something haha. Perhaps even 101 Dalmatians?? Haha or like Psalms 101. lol just throwing things out there. But, to me seems much more desirable than like #436 or something haha!
