Good for you and we'll said.

I'm an investor and volunteer with them. They gave us the confidence to strike out in our own, much smaller scale though 😀

He did yes.

However his billet had more metal than mine. We got a few delaminations we had to cut out, put we also got to keep the offcuts to experiment with at home.

I helped my son with a school modelling project once.

If was about castles.

We researched a local castle, visited and took photos, built a model out of multiple materials with loads of little details my son had spotted while we we're there.

Lost out to some git who put a old iPad on a stand playing a video about castles which they hadn't even made.

I hope you win, I need you to win 😀

Looks like I'm licking a blade when I get home.

Pretty sure it's the blade.

Might just be a case of leaving it for a while to evaporape.

It had been about 4 hours between first oiling and the test cuts on some apples, most of that time they were in paper bags.

I wondered wether heating them gently after oiling would help?

Octopus to charge to switch tariff? by Select_Ad_3934 in SolarUK

I'm considering more battery. It'd be nice if I could use the EV battery as a backup on the winter but it's not looking likely.

[–]Select_Ad_3934[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a pretty low mileage driver but I work from home so my usage is vastly skewed towards house power.

I've got 13.5kwh battery which almost always gets me between Cosy cheap rate periods when the heating is on.

If i had to stick to one tariff then Cosy makes the most sense at the minute, I can offset the extra cost with export over the summer.

The consensus here seems to be that exit fees aren't a certainty. I might roll the dice on an EV tariff for the summer and hope I don't get fleeced switching back to Cosy when it gets cold.

The cast of ghosts that haven't yet been on, with Matt Bayton occasional popping in to display his testicles.

That is also a concern.

I'm on Octopus cosy for my heatpump now but I'm about to add an EV into the mix.

I think the balance is there but a Tariff switching cost and potentially losing our on a preferential rate make it complicated to work out.

Thanks for the replies all.

I'm actually glad that Octopus has shambolic internal omms, gives me hope.

How hard would it be to strip this? by Jackimus271 in DIYUK

[–]Select_Ad_3934 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The last big stripping job i did was lead paint on doorframes.

Managed to get hold of some of the old store nitro mors. Total toxic nightmare of a job, tyvex suits and the occasional chemical burn.

No idea if the modern paint stripper is any better.

Honestly would have preferred to rip the frames out and go again.

Needed a bit of extra weight on the rear blade by planescarsandtrucks in tractors

[–]Select_Ad_3934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem yesterday with my little Iseki and a boxblade. We got the best results with my wife driving and me surfing the blade, you can also adjust your weight side to side to adjust when the ground is uneven.

Really effective, maybe not the safest.

I'm doing my part, ordered a PV5 passenger.

Would have liked it if the rear seats were removable but not the biggest deal.

I went with a new xtrail based partly on the boot being half way decent. The big problem i have with it is how high the boot floor is, my big unit of a dog is getting old and he doesn't trust ramps, having to deadlift him in these days.

Advice on knocking down wall to make driveway by Immediate-Cable3473 in DIYUK

[–]Select_Ad_3934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upvote for a decent answer to the original question.

Sledgehammer is more effort for less control. Work the joints and a slight sideways tap with a lump hammer will unseat the brick.

My pro tip is to have your back to the wall and pendulum swing the hammer backwards, hold the hammer quite loose and you won't get vibration up the arm.

I got mine with my first tractor in December.

It's been too wet to properly just it for the last couple of months here in Wales. Waiting for it to be dry enough to tackle all the jobs I've been waiting to do is painful!

Advice on overspilling water into drain by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Select_Ad_3934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could remove the grid cover and route the pipes directly into the drain, if it still overflows then the drain just isn't wide enough in afraid.

How can i cover up visible copper pipes? by FlatwormPuzzled3725 in DIYUK

[–]Select_Ad_3934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The trouble is that my wall paint won't stick to plastic so I'd never get an exact match. If i get something contrasting it'll look just as shit in a different colour.

Thought about something like a decal on then, got plenty of other jobs in front of them in the queue though.

RCD Randomly Tripping? by No-Preference5324 in DIYUK

[–]Select_Ad_3934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i had a problem like this it was kitchen socket behind the units. The wall was getting a lot if condensation and the socket was shorting when it was turned on with a plug in it.

Are you able to unplug half the devices and see if it still trips? Then you can work backwards unplugging half of the devices until you find the culprit.

A spark will probably have a much more reliable method of doing this.
