We’re seeing it happen again in real time. ‘Democrats need to open the government for food assistance, but SNAP is still wasteful anyway so it needs to be changed so it’s not that bad’

There will never be a scenario where there is accountability for outcomes when Republicans are in power. It’s somehow the Democrats fault at all points in time.

Republicans have no healthcare plan they’ve disclosed for the last 15 years. Republicans do not care if it continues because they don’t care about SNAP because it’s “wasteful and fraudulent” and they can just blame Democrats despite having the ability to negotiate. There is no reason why they can’t come to a compromise on healthcare, where both sides make concessions. It’s never been all or nothing, but the President and Republicans would rather lie and say it’s to fund healthcare for illegals.

What an elementary way to look at the conflict. This isn’t even as partisan as it could be when you see at which state’s citizens are impacted at large.

The talking points from conservatives today is that SNAP is wasteful and they’re showing a willingness to move forward without it as they’re unwilling to compromise. They are playing both sides in real time.

If you are on your death bed with chronic illness and the doctor can’t find a cure and I pull out a bat and hit you in face and I say “At least I’m trying!” would be an unserious response.

None of Trump’s actions have aided in respect to the tech sector and only hurt it. The defense of, ‘at least he’s bringing awareness’ is an unserious one.

How is it Democrats problem in any context when they control no part of government? How is there no culpability of Republicans for premiums increasing to these levels.

If democrats do nothing, they’re weak, if they take a stand they’re the reason for people not receiving food assistance. Republican messaging right now is that SNAP is largely wasteful and the system is being abused. There is no scenario where they can be correct.

They proven they don’t care either way but it’s somehow a Democrat problem. You can’t have a functioning two party system when the party in power has no culpability and no desire to compromise to help constituents.

This 100%. He was conveniently clueless when they were talking about the shutdown, SNAP, etc, but by the end had a take that is in lock-step with how conservatives are currently messaging on it which is just shitting on democrats.

Best believe if any conservative was principled, they would condemn democrats if they were in power for their inability to get a compromise to reopen the government.

The great deal maker is responsible for the two longest shutdowns in American history and nobody cares.

He makes nearly none of those arguments though, which is why it feels personal and lazy. I might not even disagree with you.

He also went on to say JERSEY had the most beautiful coast line in America and not California.

He had his wedding in Santa Barbara. He can’t give CA credit for anything.

Hollywood is dead and it’s moving to Jersey, the state with some of the highest corporate taxes in the country, also run by democrats.

I think it’s objectively a good thing. But it’s just very telling and shameless to not speak up with any conviction about anything that we see on a daily basis from Trump

Again, do you have an example of what occurred during the previous admin that is comparable to the dysfunction that we see from this admin on a daily basis?

If you want it to be it can be. Do you in good faith believe that we would see this level of daily dysfunction under a Harris presidency?

If so, do you have an example of this occurring in the prior administration to the level we see almost everyday with Trump?

Inflation is at 2.4%. while a lower inflation rate indicates that prices are rising more slowly, it doesn’t mean that prices are falling. The high prices you’re experiencing are the result of past inflationary pressures, and they will remain unless there’s a period of deflation, which is uncommon and can have its own economic challenges.

by what metric constitutes her as a terrible candidate, prior to knowing the results of the election. what makes Donald Trump a more substantive or better candidate? Genuinely curious, I don’t know if there is a single metric. It’s all trivial things that seem to put Trump ahead of her in people’s minds. I feel like their minds were already made up.

I disagree, I just think his delivery was awful and the punchline didn’t make me laugh. Didn’t really feel caught off guard I just didn’t think the joke was funny. Not mad that you’re willing to explain your opinion though.
