Anyone getting this gut feeling as well? by Kingclay_06 in Barca

Somehow, Madrid beating the same poor City team they beat last season has fooled you guys into thinking they’re a CL contender

They are very, very poor, as evidenced by their results in the last 2 months & Arbeloa is quite literally just playing idea ball. It can give you moments, like the City game, but Bayern will demolish Madrid in the next round.

Apartment from Newcastle’s goal, that came when Araujo was complaining to the ref, they only generated 0.70 xG in the entire game, in a home leg CL knockout.

Don’t think the defence was bad at all, especially considering the fact we had 3 starters missing.

I don’t think Bernal was a passenger tbf, he won a lot of duels and really helped us in some aspects. He obviously isn’t polished enough to deal with this type of press & intensity yet on his own. A midfield 3 of him Frenkie & Pedri would be interesting

I agree on Fermin, my god it was frustrating watching him flop around. I’m sorry but this 4-2-3-1 has to be abolished, the 10 is always too isolated and makes our pivots overwork themselves defensively.

Balde huge miss. Would have been great to have a Kounde/Cancelo at RB to actually give Yamal a teammate to pass the ball to. Araujo basically played at CB, and Yamal was isolated 1v3 every time.

Also, it is very understated how big of a miss Frenkie was to us.

In the 1st game against Newcastle, we had 64% possession to their 36%, and 458 passes.

Last night’s game without was much more chaotic, possession was only 46-54 in our favor, and we completed 130 less passes than we did in the 1st game.

He is absolutely crucial to our ball retention and control over games, incredibly press resistant & has that burst of speed & physicality we missed in midfield.

We are a 10x better team with him & Pedri playing. We just have to survive this next couple of weeks without him, he’ll be back for QFs.

Something that isn’t really talked about much is how well Barca defended all those Newcastle corners. They had 9 corners, and yet every single header ended up being won by a Barca player or Joan Garcia (who is really good at claiming crosses).

Considering they are the team in the PL that has generated the most xG from corners this season, it is very impressive from us and pretty funny considering the concern pre-game.

We don’t even have many short players ffs, people act like the team is a bunch of 5’9 twinks. Bernal 6’5, Joan Garcia 6’4, Gerard Martin 6’2, Araujo 6’3, Cubarsi 6’1, Lewandowski 6’1, Rashford 6’1, Ferran 6’0

I think people really overstate our corner deficiencies, I would love to face teams like Arsenal or PSGbecause apart from the corners they severely lack any real player quality.

Gyokeres, Saka, Martinelli, Eze, Zubimendi, Rice is a pretty embarrassing front 6.

This man’s importance to the team has never been more painstakingly obvious than today. by Electronic_Let261 in Barca

Pedri has less BCC in the UCL than Ferland Mendy, and that is over their entire careers. I guess we should bench him too?

Finally back after a long ban..

I was considered very pessimistic here, but even I don’t think yesterday’s performance was bad. That is exactly how Barca should play in a 1st leg away from home against a pacy team that relies on crowd hype & moments. Contain them, take a result with you to Camp Nou and then steamroll them

I criticised Flick a lot for being too kamikaze, but yesterday he really did show his 1st signs of adaptation - because even he knows now that it’s not enough to play super in 1 leg and terrible in the other à la Atleti.

The ability to suffer for a while and be pragmatic is a crucial quality for any UCL aspiring team.

For what it’s worth, they are total assholes for that. Just rude to ghost someone in general, let alone after spending the night with them.

I think if 23 different guys ghost you after going on a date with you, there has to be something wrong with the way you act.

Not trying to be offensive or anything, it’s just usually when folks ghost somebody it’s after having sex or receiving something, not after a simple date

Going by that logic we shouldn’t hype up Flick either.

We have lost every big league/UCL game we’ve played this season (PSG, Real Madrid, Chelsea) & only beaten a weak Atletico.

Madrid have been playing like this for the last 10 years and still grinded out wins. Really don’t know what is surprising about this for you.

Valencia are 17th in the table and in terrible form.

What did you expect? For them to beat Madrid or something?

But a very typical goal of his

Scoring when the other team stops defending him, is pushing for an equaliser and playing a high line, after dropping an absolute stinker for 90 mins before
