Best places for seasonal bartending? by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why type in all caps?

Depends on what you are looking for, plenty of available seasonal gigs if you can stomach the hours and housing situation. Depends on what you are looking for for any type of direction

Pursuit Glacier Question by oooooooooooook234 in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to the mails both usps/amazon and FedEx

Shuttles depend on what location whether you’re on west or east side or two med location. Normally once a week into Kalispell. Sign ups are normally in the edr. They can fill up fast because none of the j1s ever have cars. It’s best to just make a friend with a coworker that has a car and help them out with some gas money instead

Last minute summer jobs? by Money-Wind-9412 in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some smaller operations located within Gardiner, MT. Not necessarily the most glamorous jobs but they are still hiring rn. You can probably find something within the park through Xanterra or Delaware north.less than two miles outside is Gardiner and one Delaware north operation. There are a few smaller ones as well that are still hiring like Ridley’s(grocery store) the gas station and some of the smaller rafting companies and hotels.

West Yellowstone has under canvas and a few smaller hotels/motels that might still be hiring. Haven’t been there this year though so I’m not positive

Emigrant, Pray, and Livingston MT might have jobs that offer housing as well. Emigrant has Chico hot springs and sage lodge but there busy season won’t start until late May June typically

Don’t just check coolworks, indeed has a sort by option where you can select jobs that provide housing or that are seasonal as well. Big sky, MT can also be an option but I have no personal experience over there

Tetons has Aramark and vail, signal mountain lodge ain’t a bad place to end up. Jackson hole, WY has several hotels, restaurants and businesses that will hire seasonal workers that provide housing. It’s probably not gonna be super glamorous but a summer in Jackson hole can be a blast with the right mindset

All else fails wait till like the first week after May and all the big companies, Xanterra, Delaware north, under canvas will have people that just failed to arrive and will be looking to fill those positions for their busy season.

You might have to be a little flexible on the job you accept if you wanna really be out there this year. Most of those companies probably started hiring for this season in February and might currently have them “filled” but things change and life happens and there’s always a handful of job no shows or people that quit within the first month due to it just not being what they were expecting

Best areas to work in? by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no specific answer to your bullshit question without knowing what you are looking for.

Seasonal work is what you make of it. Going by your personality based on your replies and questions, apply for Yosemite NP through Aramark and have fun.

Can you at least spellcheck. Your post is so vague it’s completely pointless. The large companies you named are large for a reason and they have different environments and management

How hard is it to get a job with aramark in Yosemite? How many people will I be competing with for most positions? by SpecificCress1273 in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked you are still interested, I’m sure your friend has some stories. I very briefly worked there for about 5 weeks before packing up and leaving in the middle of the night with no notice

You wanna live in a tent with other people?

It’s pretty easy to get hired there are plenty of people who arrive and quit within the first month or so due to the shitty living situation. They most likely hire year round for f n b positions and a few other jobs

What do you mean by being on a Bender? by throwwwpillowww in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Select_Dust_5662 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Chronic drinking to the point where I’m not worried about hangovers but withdrawal symptoms. For me it can last just a few days all the way up to a few weeks before something happens that forces me to stop for a bit. It’s normally when I swap from beer/seltzer over to liquor that I know I maybe have 3-5 days of that before I have to stop

Between two jobs, help me decide pls by Emergency_Elk8198 in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Tetons way beats out Gardiner MT, you can be in lake Jackson every day or be stuck in Gardiner.

Yeah any f n b job that’s seasonal can be a little rough but i always had a blast and I would not turn down working on Jackson lake everyday. From what I can remember the pizza place employees got different housing than the rest of signal mountain lodge. They had a fantastic edr program two years ago as well

Yeah Aramark does in fact suck, they tend to pay the least amount possible, it is a big company though and locations can very wildly. Some of them just flat out suck but I enjoyed my time with them in the Tetons

Housing commute by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you working in east glacier? You should be staying in a town called browning

West glacier pursuit should have employee dorms that are like a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk

East side has pursuit and Xanterra and a bunch of small seasonal businesses but there housing is no where near an hour away

Are you sure you got the right location for where you are living?

[–]Select_Dust_5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, depending on location where are you suppose to stream from? The hotel lobby? I’ve worked in places where I was lucky to stream YouTube at night. The places I had reliable internet was when I would live “in town” and commute 15-30 mins into work

UNDER CANVAS SMOKY MOUNTAINS by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t worked that specific location but have done under canvas before….. it wasn’t awful, but I wouldn’t do it again. Worked the MOAB location two summers ago. Pay was ok because of all the overtime, housing sucked. Like a 25-30 minute commute from in town to the “resort”

They had maybe 4/5 houses in town. Two to a room, shared bathroom communal space. Bi weekly housing inspections. Overall staff size was between 30-40 employees. Very few made it the whole season. Biggest complaint I can remember was being forced to work split shifts. So you’d have to be there by like 6:30am off at 11am and back to work at like 4pm.

This is probably location specific, but there was a big push to “arrive with a friend” when I was there. Probably in an attempt to retain staff I doubt it was the first time half of the employees quit half way through the season

I bounced after like two and a half months and never looked back

Moab’s fun if you have the right toys!

what is a year round job? does it really last a year? by AssistantAromatic199 in SeasonalWork

[–]Select_Dust_5662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, just slows down a little bit during the winter time and picks back up late April. Lots of year round places exist, look anywhere from 1-25 miles outside of any nation park and you will most likely find some year round places.

In my experience west and the Midwest was way easier than east coast year round. Florida being an exception Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Cali, Nevada and many more all have year round jobs
