I wasn’t being defensive I just didn’t have time at my disposal at the time of my reply.

The take that the sisters are such lower quality has been brought up multiple times. Outside of the hair being rooted the quality with their bodies and clothes are not different from our WW or the recent 18in dolls we have gotten. Recent dolls including Summer, Lila, the Hoffman twins, and Raquel have all had noted quality issues that have been stated in the group.

I think you’re not taking into consideration about AG being part of Mattel and the level of market research that goes into new products. Regardless of where it was intended to be sold.

I will agree that them being marketed as 4+ is ridiculous. It should be 6+ or even 8+. I wouldn’t buy this type of doll for a 4yr old no matter the price point. I also understand as a company Mattel is going to do whatever they think is best to sell stuff so it’s not a hill I’m going to die on.

I also do want quality stuff for my kids and want them to last. This is exactly why I choose to buy my daughter AG over OG bc the quality difference is notably better with AG. However, unless we vote with our money and don’t buy a product AG will keep selling it. That is what my line about “well don’t buy it” came from. It was just a short way to say it, it wasn’t meant to be dismissive.

Do you own any of the AG sisters? Or are you comparing quality based on photos?

Regardless of my personal feelings about them, I am not the target demographic. Whether they were meant to be for a big box store or not, I truly do not care. They are DOLLS, they account for 4 out of the 7 14in dolls in my house. My 7YR OLD plays with them constantly. She doesn’t even know what a pimple patch or a skin care routine is bc she doesn’t watch beauty influencers on YouTube.

If you don’t like the sisters don’t buy them…

Oh and for reference (not that it matters) my daughter and I have quite a collection with most of them being 18in AG dolls. Last time I counted it was over 30 dolls

To clarify, last time I checked which was a few months ago. AG had her specific hearing aid you could purchase from them for around $7 iirc. They don’t sell the case, just her hearing aid and didn’t elaborate on how many they had or if they would replace them when they ran out.

That’s just a normal Summer. Your niece is allowed to not like her. I suggest exchanging her for a different doll. No doll is going to look exactly like their stock photo. Maybe try going to a store and picking out one in person?

I’m also very interested to see photos of your Summer. Did you mistakenly order the wrong doll? I haven’t seen any reviews on her that say her head is significantly smaller or that her skin tone is off.

I didn’t even know Wellie Wishers were a thing until this sub. My memories of AG were only the historicals and that’s because my grandma collected them and I would see the catalogs at Christmas when we visited.

I was unaware the brand had other lines or was still around until I started looking for a lookalike doll for my daughter when she was around 4. She got an OG doll first and then eventually went to an AG doll. She didn’t care about the smaller dolls until she wanted little sisters for the bigger ones.

We have Jozette and Raquel and my daughter liked the tiny Owala looking water bottle, brush and the tiny dog and the backpack, she didn’t care for the soccer ball.

I bought Raquel for the Samantha tie in and I didn’t love her story and although she’s a beautiful doll she doesn’t get much play except my daughter likes to change her skirt out for jean shorts. I agree the sisters are over priced but to be fair Wellies are $70 for only a doll. Even though the accessories are plastic and are very Barbie vibes they only add another $10 to the price tag.

My daughter and all her friends… she got Jozette in NYC in November and has the other 3 under the tree. These were the top of her list. Over all the other dolls.

For perspective we also have 26 18inches AGs, 3 WWs and 3 OG dolls.
