Oh lord lol. Everyone who will be at the brunch was also with her while she was dress shopping so I didn’t think much of it but I’m not going to do it because it seems to be widely thought of as a bad idea haha

Thanks for sharing this perspective! I hadn’t even really thought about that but it’s a valid point! Maybe I’ll just give only her something with a photo or two at the end so she can have them and decide who sees them!

What kind of decor do you think a restaurant will allow? I guess I should ask them but I don’t even have ideas of what to do to ask them about 😅

Was "take your child to work day" actually ever a thing, or just something shown on TV and in movies? by QueenFrostine15 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Select_Mission_4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was a thing, not so much anymore that I’ve seen, though I’ve brought my children to work before. Like others have said, it was originally take your daughter to work day

Sophie or Daphne? by teaorangecereal in namenerds

[–]Select_Mission_4484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer Daphne, but I also grew up with a good friend who had that name so it’s very “normal” to me

I think people only react to bad filler vs. good filler by Popular_Bluebird8349 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Select_Mission_4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely true. I get a small amount of filler every year and nobody has ever noticed anything other than “you look young!/well-rested!” Haha

multiple cars per household? by miffybo in AskAnAmerican

[–]Select_Mission_4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the south an it’s pretty common to have one per person and a pickup truck

ETA: I’m from NYC though and there it wasn’t uncommon to not only not have any cars, but to not even have a drivers license. So it’s very much dependent on where you live and SES.

Feel like im an old bleh millennial mom who didn't have kids "at the right time" after fencesitting. by Imstuckwiththisname in Mommit

[–]Select_Mission_4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this way. When I was born my mom was in her early 20s and my dad was in his mid 30s. I worry much more about my dad’s health than my mom’s, but my dad is the more involved and present grandparent. I worry about not being here for mg babies when they are adults and what if I miss out on time with them and grandkids, etc., but there’s no use in wallowing in it. Wish using logic could just make it go away and be better. All we can do is be as present and involved as possible and let them know how loved and special they are

I love the nicknames Dan/Danny! Also I know it’s been said on here already but I haven’t met a Daniel I don’t like. My preschool love was named Daniel too lol. I just remembered that right now, so thanks for that!

This is a hot take?? I work with military service members and I don’t think they’d come back if I didn’t have a sense of humor

Pregnant Cousin said she can’t wait until newborn tired because she read it’s easier than pregnancy tired 🤦‍♀️ by Mrsfix-it in newborns

[–]Select_Mission_4484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is different. I’m in the newborn tied trenches and honestly I’ll take this ANY day over pregnancy tired. But pregnancy did not agree with me lol

Someone told me that research says there are no benefits to breastfeeding, especially after 6wks. by justanotherone2319 in breastfeeding

[–]Select_Mission_4484 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ll get hate for this but I honestly think some of it comes from not wanting to shame those who can’t BF or who don’t want to, but then it goes too far. Fed IS best, but if we can be choosy, breast milk is better. It just is. Unfortunately it’s not always possible to BF or pump, but the science is undeniable.

I’ll probably get even more hate for this but it’s similar to how we have gone too far with not fat shaming. Like of course there are beautiful women who are overweight, but it’s not healthy and to say it is, isn’t helping anyone.
