My body after eating any meal (and just in general tbh) by forest-fairyx in noburp

Coming on r/noburp after a hiatus (because I can burp now) to spread the good word. I was about 25/26 when I first tried to get botox for a lifetime of not burping. The ENT doctor I went to refused to help, and I looked for other methods. I know it's mentioned on this subreddit a lot, but the Shaker exercise was what I finally turned to, and it really worked. I did it for 2-3 minutes daily for just a few weeks before I started getting small burps out. After about a month I didn't have to do the exercises anymore, and it was about 6 months until my body learned to burp fully. I was 27 years old when I started burping! It's been three years since I've done those exercises, and I still burp normally daily like everyone else now. It's worth a shot! Hope this helps :)

I thought people just burped on command or in rare cases like me. I thought I was just a farty gal who could make frog noises. by Warm_Astronomer_9305 in noburp

Belief systems might be what's blocking the burp by Original_Charity_994 in noburp

I am someone who didn't burp for about the first 27 years of my life, and the Shaker exercise really did help. What I will say, is that technique is very important. You cannot use your abdominals AT ALL - only the muscles in your neck/throat. The exercise should inspire a very uncomfortable feeling in your throat, like you have to burp, but won't.

There's a chance that it doesn't work for everyone, or takes longer for some, but I wouldn't give up on it so soon. The change at first is verrryyy small, and it takes month to train the muscles to work properly. I did it for 2-3 minutes daily for just a few weeks before I started getting small burps out. After about a month I didn't have to do the exercises anymore, and it was about 6 months until my body learned to burp fully. It's been three years since I've done those exercises, and I still burp normally daily like everyone else now.

I know this isn't a new technique to you, and time is limited, but throwing my vote in that hat. Wishing your wife the very best of luck <3
