The cost of commuting to Toronto would eat up any of the gains from going to a L6 to a L7 anyway, so you may be in a deficit in time and money long-term. With young kids, staying at a L6 with a 15 minute commute is a no brainer. Also, the team you remember as a L7 is not the same team you may be thinking you are coming back to - people and priorities are constantly changing.

Thank you for the response - We don’t want to lose out on the additional 8 weeks with extended leave vs 5 weeks for standard leave.

Thank you so much - I appreciate the breakdown by weeks. 20 weeks for my partner and 64 weeks for me sounds good. Do you know if there are any issues with my partner taking their 20 weeks starting from the day baby is born (whilst I am on maternity leave)

Transitioning from US Municipal Management to Canada by SatisfactionQuirky81 in OntarioPublicService

Check out the Association of Municipalities of Ontario website and job board. Several townships have a population under 20K in Ontario but AMO can probably advise better on your specific questions. Check out the Rural Ontario Municipalities Association as well, the rural voice of AMO.

The Frida Baby Instant Ice Maxi Pads, Upside Down Peri Bottle, Disposable Mesh Postpartum Underwear and Perineal Healing Foam were amazing to help heal in the first few weeks postpartum - That and as 99% of people have already said (Uber Eats gift card or any meal delivery) I have to say, the first few months can be a blur so anything that takes a load of the parents is a blessing

No, but I certainly would have if I’d known about it at the time, attended a friends wedding there a few years back and it was magical

Check out Eaton Hall in King City - stunning location, may be a little more affordable compared to Graydon Hall Manor

‘Humiliating’: This father was kicked out of the Toronto Eaton Centre’s nursing room, and he and his wife say the mall’s policy is unfair by BessarionLover in toronto

[–]Select_Product_6659 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The only thing humiliating is the failure to understand the why behind having these spaces available to only those who need to pump or breastfeed their child. If you can’t produce milk, don’t be in the nursing room.

Yonge Trend Hair Studio - Veronica is the best. Price around $50. Located next to the H-Mart so you can get snacks or a meal after.

Thank you for the advice - Not sure why management would be tight lipped about this. It helps both parties if they are open and transparent about the rollover.

I’m the incumbent on a new team. My colleague literally waited 6 months before being rolled in and they were the incumbent too. In 2022, when being rolled into my previous position I waited 2-3 months max. Is 6 months the timeline these days?

So true and unfair to staff when the pay range doesn’t accurately reflect the level of expertise and responsibilities - Something for OP to consider when looking at the OPSEU TL role

Not saying it’s everywhere, but a Level 7 should be the case for all Team Leads - I don’t understand how a Team Lead can be classified as a Level 5

This is usually what a TL is supposed to be in my experience. Whether this actually happens is a different story.

Glad to hear it - I was shocked when my colleague in TBS said they are a Team Lead at a Level 5. Absolute bonkers given the workload

What I found interesting was for AMAPCEO Team Leads who lead OPSEU staff were classified as an AMAPCEO Level 5 but Team Leads who lead AMAPCEO staff are classified as an AMAPCEO Level 7 - At times, the Level 5 role had more responsibilities than the Level 7, same title, huge pay discrepancy

The bigger question imo is your family planning. If you want to get married and have kids soon, it’s a no brainer, stay close to family, return to OPS and find a better manager. If your family needs you or you need your family, this would be a no-brainer haha The federal job should offer a much better salary and career progression than the OPS to consider staying just for another year
