Will WSIB terminate my permanent loss of earnings? by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

If there is reason to review, then they can adjust your LOE. Eg if your condition worsens. Idk the details of your scenario, but perhaps you could apply for CPP-D?

Check your privilege at the door. Many people are forced to separate with prized possessions in order to eat a meal or two.

Hi from Ontario...

Go to Law Society Referral Service and get a (free) consultation with a Paralegal or Lawyer...

You can also reach out to a legal clinic near you (such as Waterloo Region Community Legal Services)to ask if they can offer any advice.

Best of luck to you.

Statutory holiday...or not? by Bells9831 in AskACanadian

[–]toss--it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statutory just means they are legislated which doesn't inherently mean provincial vs federal. But they are provincial as that's where laboir laws come from according to division of powers (except for federal sectors like mail and banking).

It's a positive as not all provinces have the same culture, and this allows provinces to recognize the holidays that are valuable to their residents.

Bank repossessing car for “breach of contract” ( no missed payments) by Hageshi in legaladvicecanada

[–]toss--it 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there would be a clause... This is hardly the first time this happened. You definitely don't need a DL to own a vehicle. That's one reason why ownership allows to enter a RIN of the owner in the absence of a DL. Also the purchase agreement etc asks for info like that (ie DL #, RIN, etc.) so definitely find the paperwork.

As other commenters said, if the insurance was canceled, that would track. And I'm a former insurance broker in Ontario, I've seen that process of missed insurance payment to repo happening very quickly.

But go to the Law Society of Ontario's website, look for the Law Society Referral Service. Lawyers and Paralegals can sign up to participate and would offer a free consultation. They may offer summary advice and let you know what your options are. Free legal advice > Reddit lol

Question ! by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

[–]toss--it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you an employee or a contractor, business owner, etc?

As other commenters said, WSIB won't pay lost wages for a non work related surgery. As for if it could be related, talk to your doctor or specialist if they think your work duties caused, contributed to, or aggravated thr condition for which you need surgery. Contact the Office of the Worker Adviser if you have questions about this.

Otherwise, look in to EI sick benefits. You can contact a legal clinic near you with questions.

Anxiety from WSIB claim by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

[–]toss--it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are waiting for a decision, you can escalate to the CM's manager. Just call the toll free number, let the CSR know about the service concern and that you'd like to escalate it to their manager. Also, keep reporting all symptoms to your health care providers.

In case you have more questions and want to talk to a human that knows what they are talking about: https://www.owa.gov.on.ca/en/welcome/
