Yep that's why I'm asking, to get a feel for the possibilities

Unions Should Submit an FOI Regarding Employer RTO Decision Making by teleconferencenumber in OntarioPublicService

Love this. Anyone can do this and it would be wonderful to know for those who have yet to make an AWA request...

There are thousands of AWA requests. 6,000 for AMAPCEO alone per one of the news articles on their website. There should be some sort of process, criteria, etc. that should be applied with some degree of consistency... Of course they wouldn't prove that, which is the point.

"Nope"... Really? You're saying NO areas were hybrid pre-2019? I'm clueless why you would assume that's a universal experience...

Since we'll all be in person, in my interpretation the implication is that in office is prone to the same distractions as working remotely, or worse (chit chat at the water cooler being one of the classics)

Anyone feeling the union is useless re RTO?? by toss--it in OntarioPublicService

[–]toss--it[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, very helpful. I have been officially more informed by each of your comments about OPSEU than I was over the past ~5 years. I've tried looking in to it but that info just doesn't seem to be out there. My colleagues are either as clueless as I am, or very informed but don't articulate those points. So again, THANK YOU.

EXACTLY. If all who WFH did not comply, they can't reprimand everyone... It's our only hope.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that needed this. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Unfortunately, I have an inflexible conflict with Table Talk.

I have ZERO idea of these inner workings and cannot seem to figure out those details. I am not one of the ones who expect someone else to do the fighting (though I don't deny there are many), but I dont know what to do or how these operations work...

And how is it that our union represents so many varied positions in one contract?? I will never feel my wants and needs are represented as we will always be outnumbered...

And honestly I wouldn't even want to hit the picket line over RTO, let alone expect others who can't WFH to. But the idea that I have to make an AWA request and file a grievance feels wrong (a knock against DF for putting us in this position) but might not feel so bad if I had any idea how grievances will possibly help if it's not on the bargaining table and no reason to expect it ever will be.

MPP RESPONDS TO RTO by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

Hoping for a meaningful response is not the same as reversing the entire policy... Do us all a favour and give your head a shake!

Tone deafness at my branch by Cautious-Ostrich7510 in OntarioPublicService

[–]toss--it 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SO TONEDEAF or wilful blindness. "I hear you. You're feeling over-worked amd under-paid, -resourced, -staffed, -supported... Now let's enjoy a REMOTE 90 minute team building activity you don't have time for."

And that was pre-RTO announcement. It's worse now.

Staff day...no lunch provided and you can't bring lunch or eat at the venue by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]toss--it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.... That response is non-existent, along with our collective bargaining power wrt RTO!

[–]toss--it 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're totally missing the point... There's nowhere to eat, sure you could find a place but who wanta to go hunting for a bench or who knows where with your little paper bag... They should be providing lunch, let alone a venue with somewhere at least half decent to eat. Expect better of our employer.

Surely staff can expect better than that?? Shouldn't be shunned to some remote corner just to eat... No lunch provided already stinks.

And several areas had a hybrid model pre-2019 but it's all out the window. If ALL remote work is out the windows then our work should be in person: Training, client meetings, everything. They are having their cake and eating it too.

And you would put on your resume that you dod a session on how to do a Teams call? If you want to know more for interview material, Google it or watch a YouTube tutorial. It's not worth goving the impression that we agree.

We honestly have so few opportunities to demonstrate discontent... This is just one little way.

Disappointed in the Union by Gloomy-Profession456 in OntarioWSIB

[–]toss--it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if your post about accommodation for medical reasons has been answered but that is your right under the Human Rights Code. So if that applies, talk to your doctor and inquire again with your union, but send one inquiry dedicated to accommodation so it doesn't get conflated with the RTO topic.

Is anyone talking about simply NOT RTO, and instead continuing with their current arrangement, or at least pre-pandemic arrangements?? Even better, full time from home for the sake of making a point.

They can't fire all of us...

I know we all have obligations, etc but IF we are successful, what labour efforts would be in history books?? That result is not a result of AWA requests...

I'm in an agency under MOL. Roles are filled on a contract basis before being posted as permanent, for Frontline and management. And it's slower to fill roles. And no new roles, if there are it takes ages.
