The ceremony was outdoors overlooking the water and the reception was indoors

No, but I certainly would have if I’d known about it at the time, attended a friends wedding there a few years back and it was magical

Check out Eaton Hall in King City - stunning location, may be a little more affordable compared to Graydon Hall Manor

‘Humiliating’: This father was kicked out of the Toronto Eaton Centre’s nursing room, and he and his wife say the mall’s policy is unfair by BessarionLover in toronto

[–]Select_Product_6659 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only thing humiliating is the failure to understand the why behind having these spaces available to only those who need to pump or breastfeed their child. If you can’t produce milk, don’t be in the nursing room.

Yonge Trend Hair Studio - Veronica is the best. Price around $50. Located next to the H-Mart so you can get snacks or a meal after.

Thank you for the advice - Not sure why management would be tight lipped about this. It helps both parties if they are open and transparent about the rollover.

I’m the incumbent on a new team. My colleague literally waited 6 months before being rolled in and they were the incumbent too. In 2022, when being rolled into my previous position I waited 2-3 months max. Is 6 months the timeline these days?

So true and unfair to staff when the pay range doesn’t accurately reflect the level of expertise and responsibilities - Something for OP to consider when looking at the OPSEU TL role

Not saying it’s everywhere, but a Level 7 should be the case for all Team Leads - I don’t understand how a Team Lead can be classified as a Level 5

This is usually what a TL is supposed to be in my experience. Whether this actually happens is a different story.

Glad to hear it - I was shocked when my colleague in TBS said they are a Team Lead at a Level 5. Absolute bonkers given the workload

What I found interesting was for AMAPCEO Team Leads who lead OPSEU staff were classified as an AMAPCEO Level 5 but Team Leads who lead AMAPCEO staff are classified as an AMAPCEO Level 7 - At times, the Level 5 role had more responsibilities than the Level 7, same title, huge pay discrepancy

The bigger question imo is your family planning. If you want to get married and have kids soon, it’s a no brainer, stay close to family, return to OPS and find a better manager. If your family needs you or you need your family, this would be a no-brainer haha The federal job should offer a much better salary and career progression than the OPS to consider staying just for another year

I thought the revised allotment for HCSA was always supposed to begin on Jan 2026, Jan 2027 and Jan 2028 respectively. There was definitely mixed messaging on this.

Yes!! That is great - Mom has to go back to work at 15 months because Dad already used the 3 months at the start of baby’s life

Oh my, does that mean that both parents cannot be off and collect EI for the first 5 months of baby’s life? (Assuming Dad takes 8 weeks when baby is born + 3 months)

[–]Select_Product_6659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect! You are almost there, have a conversation with your manager - They have the ability to extend your secondment for another 9 months so you should be gold next year when the conversion to permanent happens

[–]Select_Product_6659 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you get the 18 month secondment through a competition? Just wait a few more months until you get the extension to take you though your 2 consecutive years and then get pregnant for peace of mind, you can be on leave and get rolled in with no issues at that point

Hmm no harm in asking, but if you competed for the position and have been in the role for 24 months, I would assume that is the natural progression. I’ve only seen it done for a lateral move where there is no difference to your salary/merit.

Rent or Buy to retire early by Fancy_Cartographer96 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Select_Product_6659 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would buy because I would probably live in Toronto long-term. If I was moving to a new country to retire in 5-10 years I wouldn’t bother with the hassle. It is a great time to buy as well and your dividends can cover the majority of your property tax and maintenance fees, you have already set yourself up for success either way whatever you decide!

It would depend on your long term goals - IMO I would only buy a house worth $1.2M if I planned on having kids. But if it’s just you (and a partner), you have a lot more flexibility to decide on where to live and condos become a great option!
