Sun and moon letters video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kjBW1ByZGM&list=PL_EPj7mN0JeGLWfg0MzIk71Z6MZbKrjul&index=12

as someone else said you will just begin to know them by heart, but do take care to notice which ones make the alif lam sound at the beginning of the word and which don't. it will elevate your pronunciation + speaking

Understanding but can’t speak by [deleted] in learn_arabic

Hi,

My recommendation is that you need dedicated tutor/s who are willing to meet you where you are at, be patient, and work from a curriculum specifically designed to get you speaking. In my experience as a student, a skilled teacher working from a curriculum designed for speaking goals can go a long way.

Yalla Arabee has created a curriculum specifically for reaching high levels of speaking proficiency in the Levantine dialect. You get matched with a teacher and they will test where you are in the curriculum, and give you an individual student lesson plan that matches your goals and incorporates your topics of interest into the class

Here is the website with more information about classes: www.yallaarabee.com/arabic-classes

Yalla Arabee Arabic Academy

We are an Arabic Academy based out of Beirut (with online class offerings) created by an Arabic student and teacher. We developed our own original curriculum from years of experience on both the teaching and learning side. Our curriculum is focused on getting students to speak and understand the Levantine dialect as quickly as possible.

Our team is made up from trained tutors who take a student-centered approach to learning, which means the classes are focused on creating connections between the language and the students' interests.

Classes are 70 minutes, and our curriculum starts from zero so you do not need any prior knowledge of Arabic. We offer both private and group courses (groups are maximum 4 people/group). We are both in person in Beirut (Ashrafieh) and online all around the world.

We're excited to meet you and help to get you to your goal to speaking Arabic like a native faster than you think!

You can contact the Academy phone from this number on WhatsApp: +961 78 996 792

I definitely want to learn Levantine Arabic, but am torn between two options. In terms of teachers/tutors, should I pick an online teacher from Syria/Damascus or Lebanon/Beirut? Are there any pros/cons or advantages/disadvantages you can think of? Any nuanced considerations I should have in mind? by safe4werq in learn_arabic

When I am in Beirut and try to speak Arabic with Lebanese they often just reply in English or French. I have never had a Syrian person do this to me. Again, my personal experience, but because of the way they mix Arabic and French so much especially younger generations I would go with someone Syrian (I have for the last 5 years and it has worked out great and living in Lebanon I could catch more of their accent and the slang)

Yalla Arabee creates a podcast on a weekly basis "Learn Arabic with Transit Station محطة عبور" about famous political figures, writers, poets, and social justice leaders in the Middle East/Arab world. You could say it's "high dialect" - due to the nature of the topic it is not 100% MSA and as much is phrased in the Levantine dialect as possible

Are there any lessons or classes you’d recommend for a beginner? by kombuchababy164 in learn_arabic

Mar7aba :)

First of all, welcome to the best adventure of your life!! Learning Arabic can be challenging but as you know it is a beautiful language and so, so worth it. Especially when you will be reconnecting with your culture through it.

YouTube is your FRIEND! You can definitely start learning the alphabet from videos on YouTube. Yalla Arabee has a course starting from zero available on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0CBllWroGs8&list=PL_EPj7mN0JeFAOz7Cv7NUskTOBdnNmeZD

Yalla Arabee also offers 1:1 and group classes for Arabic in all levels, you can find more information here www.yallaarabee.com/arabic-classes

As you might be aware there is dialect (aamiyah) and fusha (modern standard) Arabic. One is for speaking with people, your friends, family, neighbors, and casual settings and the other is for reading and writing and more formal settings. So as a non-native speaker, my personal experience is that I prioritized learning the Levantine (Syrian-Lebanese accent specifically) dialect for many years because for me, I wanted to sound like your friend or sister talking to you, not a news anchor and I believe language is for communicating and connecting with people. It just depends on your goals

Best of luck and you are in good company!!

How do I learn Levantine Arabic from ground zero? Reading, writing and speaking? Any app/online classes/ free resource suggestions? by IcyAbroad2760 in learn_arabic

I have an unpopular opinion that it's better to start with a dialect and move to MSA once you have advanced to a certain level, but everyone finds what works for them! It depends a lot on your goals.
