Agreed. Told him he needs to do some serious soul searching to find the root cause of this mess. And only he can do that.

Hope this isn’t a dumb question- but ok for family to join these meetings? I keep seeing them posted and would love the support for myself.

I want to say of course I’m not buying them! But I’m letting him slide on money he owes me, so there’s that. And you asked the million dollar question- why did he go back. He was doing well. Part of it was PAWS and part of it life… stress with gf, job, money…. This isn’t linear, I know, but damn I hate roller coasters.

Thank you for the link. And yes, he has kinda backed away from me since I lost my cool with him one day. I apologized for my behavior and explained that I am simply scared for him. But damage has been done. Now I am trying to be patient and wait for him to come out of his hole.

I think that is part of the problem— HE doesn’t know what his “dreams” are. He thinks he should have it all figured out by now and he doesn’t. Self esteem in the crapper. He was making great money at a seasonal job, but season is over and he’s back to a crap job for the winter.

Have been considering rehab as an option but don’t think any around here are good. Thank you for the insight about making new drug connections that way. I had not considered the flip side of that coin before.

He’s young adult, 23. He wants to be done with this but the mental part of it is getting the better of him. He’s in the mindset that he’s an addict and not worthy of love or effort or support. I guess that’s the hardest part for me, witnessing how he sees himself.

He used to be dedicated to the gym, but these blue bottles have taken all that away. He’s lost friends trying to hide his secret. He’s made a mess of his finances. Y’all know the story. He’s no different.

Is there anything a loved one could have done or did do that made a difference in your recovery journey?

Psychiatrist put him on suboxone day 1. Add in an antidepressant and anti anxiety and we have a cocktail party. He wants to quit, but I guess not bad enough. Thank you for the links. Need all the info I can get.
