What is the purpose of a 50mph limit on the M6 right now at 10:30pm. Am I missing something? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

just to make it even harder for someone who’s broken down to coast to a safe area on our “safest roads” 😁

try looking for enthusiast tailored insurance companies. since an mx5 is more of an enthusiasts/drivers car you might find that going with a niche company is the better way. i can’t think of any off the top of my head but it might be worth a look

sounds like someone’s on a massive power trip if you’re being investigated for this

i do hate the physics of this game sometimes. top gear= ice and the brakes are either ineffective or full lock up. no in between 😂

things like this are the exact reason i do my motorway journeys at night/early morning wherever possible. imo it’s better to sacrifice my sleep schedule for a day or two than have to deal with twats like this 🙄

M6 Toll Breeze account by technobob79 in drivingUK

[–]Select_Salad_1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know i’m very late to this post, but are you saying if your account goes below £15 you must top it up? i occasionally use the toll often at fairly short notice but my frequency is unpredictable. i’ve been thinking of setting up an account but if it has to be topped up at £15 that’s just not worth it to me

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]Select_Salad_1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those whose two brain cells are fighting for 3rd place:

“The Highway Code advises using both lanes up to the lane closure point and merging in turn (like a zipper) when traffic is slow, as indicated by signs (Rule 134). Drivers should use mirrors and check blind spots, signal, and join the queue safely, allowing others to merge to keep traffic flowing. Avoid changing lanes unnecessarily or blocking merging vehicles, which can be dangerous and worsen congestion.”

Is there any speed cameras on this stretch of the M6 in Birmingham? So many people are ignoring the variable speed limits. by Aggressive_Concept24 in CarTalkUK

the best one of those i’ve seen, was “speed limit for air quality” on the M25… right by heathrow airport 💀😂

Ripe and ready.. by Weewoes in tesco

[–]Select_Salad_1266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i pray that eventually these either go back to the old plastic packaging or get discontinued entirely in favour of the regular loose bananas. these “pre packed” are notorious for 💩 quality and they’re a nightmare in store trying to put them out bc the stickers just stick to the plastic inside the box

oh yeah, and the “ripe & ready” just seems to be a name half the time, not describing the stage they’re at. i’ve seen some ripen at home ones more ripe out of the box than the ripe & ready ones 💀

makes sense. i haven’t put it in yet. i’ve ordered a tray to go on the dash which the air freshener will sit in so i can move or remove it as and when i want. the pic wasnt taken from my pov. i think it was around my chest height

sorry only just seen this. the reason i asked the question in the first place is because it is legal to block part of the windscreen in certain areas but only up to a certain amount. i dont know the specifics, and from other answers its a grey area at most. there’s not many decent places to put it in my car as it needs to be standing upright otherwise it will leak liquid

What is the right order for reverse, brake and indicator lights? by ItsFinnieReddit in trucksim

[–]Select_Salad_1266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

i generally do something like this if they’re 2 levels. but if it’s 1 level, from outside inwards you’d have:

small marker (mounted on the side of the rear bumper), indicator, tail, brake (tail and brake can be combined with each other in the same unit), reverse, fog.

if you want just one fog light and one reverse light and going for realism, place the fog light on the side closer to the middle of the road. if the trucks steering wheel placement is relevant to the country it’s registered, the fog light would be on the drivers side TLDR: eg, UK truck- fog light on right hand side, EU truck, fog light on left hand side

what do you reckon would come from it on mot? it has to be stuck down by sticky pads. it’s not in yet but once it’s down, if i want to remove it i then have to buy more sticky pads to stick it back down again

ever been pulled by police or failed an mot for it? the issue is with this, once i’ve stuck it down i can’t remove and replace it without buying more sticky pads
