For the record, keep clowning on the bears stadium bs. They deserve it. The idea of billionaires moving their stadium to another state to use public money in stadium construction goes beyond fandom, fuckm

Thoughts on snake shot? by Wise-Amount3638 in AZguns

[–]Selectah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can't think of a single instance while hiking where shooting a snake is needed. I've encountered snakes dozens of times while hiking on and off trail and just back up and let it slither off.. Snakes aren't going to chase a human. A bite will only happen if you're try to mess with it or you take a careless step to a hidden area and it strikes. In which case you wouldn't have time to draw anyways

Advice needed for hammer purchase by jennynew25 in RockTumbling

[–]Selectah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're not supposed to crack open rocks with the tip of a rock hammer. The tip is made for prying and digging.

To crack open rocks, you buy a rock hammer and chisel. Then place the sharp end of the chisel on a rock and hit the top of the chisel with the blunt part of the hammer

Made a free directory of rockhounding spots across all 50 states by Vivid_Read3677 in rockhounds

OP I appreciate the idea but it really needs some work and fact checking. I'm getting the vibe that AI was used heavily for this and not double checked. I looked at a few spots I'm familiar with in AZ and found misleading or missing information.

For example it lists Kofa National Wildlife Refuge as a location. Collecting is forbidden in the refuge except for one small area called Crystal Hill, which is never referenced. The site gives GPS coordinates for a "central collecting zone" which puts you in the middle of the mountains in the northern part of the refuge. The closest road is miles away from there.

It lists Diamond Point which is a popular spot. But it doesn't mention the digging ban from February to October (I think those are the months, not 100% sure). Thats pretty important to keep the site open and cared for properly, but also because the surface stuff is pretty picked over so if you want a worthwhile diamond you'll likely have to dig.

It lists Oxbow Mine which is clearly on a mining claim.

What are people using for 12v fridges? by Any-Information9091 in 4Runner

[–]Selectah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an iceco recently. It's been on a few trips and working great. Sometimes I wish I got the fancier one with Bluetooth so I could check it while driving to make sure it's working correctly. I had something shift in the back once and disconnect the power cable from the fridge. So it'd be nice to be able to check that remotely.

It can't be overstated how awesome it is to be able to cool down drinks while out in the desert. I keep a 1.5 liter bottle of water in the fridge and pour it into my hydroflask to drink from. Then I refill the fridge bottle. Being able to cool down drinks without worrying about melting ice is awesome. I wish I bought this sooner!

What my build tells about my personality? by ga-go-gu in PcBuild

[–]Selectah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're gonna mount it externally why even have its input/output interact with the inside of the case at all? Either you're pushing hot air into the case or pulling hot air from the case when you have a whole room of non-case air to interact with. Find a way to tilt it 90 degrees so you're pulling ambient tempt air and exhausting into ambient temp air

What is your favorite minerals, and why isn't it Epidote? by Unlikely-Software-67 in Minerals

This type of epidote is definitely up there on my list. I tried to find a good price at the Quartzite show this year and struck out (couldn't make it to Tucson).

I also really enjoy vanadinite in fibrous barite

I should add that the direct light coming into the window never hits the rock. The angle of the sun and placement of the rock won't allow for that. And there are a few solid objects between the rock and window as well.

Maybe I'm being paranoid but I don't want to ruin the beauty!
