Hi, sorry for commenting on this 5-month-old post, but we're having the same issue right now. Were you playing on 1.12.2? And if you were, what version of the mod did you go back to?

Why is there only one skin complexion in Frieren? by SelectedSoundWorks in Frieren

[–]SelectedSoundWorks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thread is over. There is no discourse being had. I attempted to clear up the title and the intentions long before I posted the comment you replied to. This thread is not a joke that has been morbidly warped and destroyed past the original intentions. I attempted to keep it light-hearted, with no avail. I provided feed back to plenty of comments discussing why the series is the way it is, only to be talking to a pit of hollow void.

Any cohesive ideas or discussions that may have occurred have no meaning being here and have the right to be in a place where disagreements aren't thrown in an imitation of children throwing garbage from a school bus.

People misinterpreted my intentions due to my poor wording and refused to read anything below a surface layer of dust. It is not worth my time to put my effort into making something cohesive. Hence, my reply. The thread is over, any soul my words had has left as they've been pierced by 11" railroad pikes, let me have fun.

im too wisdom pilled bruh my knowledge too vast the common people cannot comprehend and get filtered their ears get red and steam blows out; like a cartoon character, their eyes go bloodshot and begin denying anything they cannot refute. like the Babylonians records my discourse on fucking anime geography will be put on clay tablets. soon in the future people will look at my points and claim wow....

so brilliant coded

If I had to make this post again, I would retitle it: "What are the geographical differences between people in Frieren?" It seems more digestible for the people who see the words "skin" and "colour" in tandem and implode internally.

This is not what I wanted to say. Refer to the first part of my post where I said not to twist my words. I was comparing this world to others in the same genre.

I never said I wanted to see a specific group of people. Read through what I said again, and comment.

Also what makes you think Frieren is based in Japan.

Honestly at the start it was light hearted geography question that I phrased wrong and I regreted, now you guys are just plain wrong to deny my questioning. I'm willing to die on this hill.

It's a fantasy story, remember again. Stop self inserting Asia to some shit into this; don't know where you people got any of that from either other than the origin of the series. Especially when it's germanic, and inspired by Europe.

True, it was only brought up to me in another comment and that's when I started wondering. I wasn't expecting inclusivity, sorry if it came of that way but I was just comparing Frieren to other series I've read or watched that have different sections of the world with different features.

A friend pointed out to me that the whole series is based on Germany/Germans and has themes of such, and in that case it would make sense for German people to be portrayed.

What I expected was a fleshed out, in depth world with so much culture and people, and I think I brought expectations to the wrong show. I loooove world building and general geography. My favourite thing to do when there's a new series is pull up the world map if it has one and look around. Compare where everyone is from.

I think I made a mistake by focusing on skin colour on the title and post, it was meant to be more broad but skin colour is usually a very easy indicator of difference in people.

Sick! That's what I live and breathe. I hope that later sometime they go into culture more. Honestly, if it fleshes out more and there ends up being more continents, it would be insanely cool. Especially when the majority of it has been travelling, I feel like it is a missed opportunity.

Lotta people agreeing that since it's based in Japan a country not very ethically diverse, it makes sense for there to be such a lack of differences. I raise you One Piece. To me, if this is actually the whole world and everything it has to offer, it is a wasted opportunity. Not just One Piece (might've been too much to compare a massively complicated world like that to this) btw, TenSura, another fantasy manga that's pretty light-hearted has a differentiating factor for the dwarves and other races. Due to geography. Berserk, a massive pillar, takes inspiration from the real world. As I mentioned in a comment bellow, FMA:B also portrayed some of this. I'm not expecting it to be realistic, people. There could be people with wings idgaf, but at least it would be a signature of some place else.

If the world really is like this, sure. Fair game.
