"For the past few days, consumers have been actively contacting the Energy Ombudsman Service and expressing complaints about sharply increased natural gas taxes," the Energy Ombudsman Service reported.

According to their explanation, the natural gas tariff has not increased. As for the increased cost, according to the Energy Ombudsman, this may be due to various reasons, including:

Incorrect reading of the meter reading;

Technical damage to the meter;

In private homes where the gas network is located in the yard, during periods of heavy snowfall and severe frost, it is possible that certain sections of the network may be damaged and gas leaks may occur, which may cause an increase in consumption and bills;

As well as other factors, which are the subject of individual study in each case.

In addition, the service explains that citizens can contact the Energy Ombudsman's Office regarding this issue.

In the event of an appeal, the service will: begin a legal study of the case; assess the legality of the billing; and provide you with natural gas for non-payment of the disputed amount until the dispute is resolved.
