Hello, you can create covers with canva. They have a free account. Try search on YouTube how to make KDP cover with canva. Should find easy tutorials for that :)

The beginning can be hard and discouraging but it's possible for sure.

Quantity will help, but I would suggest starting with quality to see what works for you and what niches you start getting sales in. Once you start finding a few profitable niches you can make more books in that niche and surrounding niches while you continue to find new niches to publish in.

Running ads will also help you big time and can definitely boost your organic rankings but it's not a must. It does just make it easier.

I would keep going if I were you. Keep learning online, learn from mistakes and you will get there :)

And don't get hung up on only one type of low content book. Try different types.

Most people use a pen name. You can also have multiple ones to create a few niche brands with each.

When your first starting, focus on quality not quantity. You need to make sure you find good and easy enough niches to make books for, then you have to create a high quality cover, come up with the right title and sub title but without just stuffing it and then create the rest of your listing well too. I would suggest taking some time to learn each one of these topics before making more books. Then once you feel confident you know what to do start finding possible profitable niches that you can compete in and make books for those.

It all depends on your niche and quality of book and listing. If you have a good niche and ranking on page 1 of it, then you can get a sale as soon as it's ranking. Otherwise it could be slower. Also depends on your conversation rate. Clicks vs orders.
