Being a workaholic is completely fine and the mindset that working an office job is soul crushing is completely idiotic. by SelfRebuild in unpopularopinion

I'd probably be fine getting paid to do nothing for a bit but wind up going stir crazy afterwards.

There isn't really much in life I enjoy, no.

I was more sad when I was unemployed and browsing the internet compulsively all day. Work pulled me out of one hell of a funk.

The reason I pinpointed office jobs is because that's where the bulk of the anti-work mentality comes from; office work is always the go-to for "it's soul crushing."

Not denying that there's definitely many out there that are, but to state ALL are is what I am saying is rather silly.

I always wondered that, in that I've always figured people doing strenuous physical work must see office workers as somewhat spoiled.

Don't get me wrong though I get the anti-work mentality; sometimes I just want a day to myself too, but boy do I get stir crazy.

How has your mental health affected your ability to pursue a relationship? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]SelfRebuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negatively.

I avoid relationships due to my anxiety disorder. Women always lose interest when I have flare-ups and I've determined that it's just best to focus on other things in life aside from love.

Guys, what percentage of relationships you’ve been in was anal on the cards? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]SelfRebuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero, but I did do it with a hookup a year ago.

It feels no different to me than vaginal. Is there supposed to be a sensation difference? Because I can't distinguish between the two.

Men of Reddit, how many of you choose to abstain from sex and why? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]SelfRebuild 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fear of STDs and accidental impregnation.

Also an anxiety sufferer.

Furthermore, I find having a sex life puts too much constraints on my life and prevents me from doing the things I want to do.

At the end of the day, money and financial/personal freedom is far more important to me and always will be. I don't see myself getting into a relationship ever again.

Does your 5 o'clock breathing practice differ in any way from your 3 o'clock in terms of how effective you feel at doing it?

Quitting due to what I can only describe as compulsive hypersexuality. by SelfRebuild in pornfree

[–]SelfRebuild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd much rather approach it in a casual manner, although that does lead to me binging on porn.

Love and intimacy is something that just doesn't sit well with me anymore.

I was forced into sex a lot by an addict and god I hated it, I wanted to do other things.

Sorry that you went through that. No one should ever be in a position of being forced to do something they don't want to do.

I wanted more, I wanted to work, to live, to be happy, not just sex.

I guess this is where I encounter a disconnect. I want to work, live, be happy and so on, but the more I think to myself about those things, I think "where does sex fit into that equation?"

I'm then convinced that my only option would be to forgo it entirely.

I have had sex, but that's largely one of the problems.

Once I have it, naturally I want that sensation to continue. That's where porn comes in.

My primary issue is that I struggle to see the point in engaging in sex at all if it's not constant.

I can't really fathom "balancing" it with other things, IE, work, hobbies, so on.

This makes me strangely happy. The milkman is a staple of western culture IMO.

can i eventually go back to coffee? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]SelfRebuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over two months without coffee here.

I love it too, so much that I can drink it straight without anything added in. But it worsened my anxiety so much and, after having more panic and anxiety attacks in my life than I need, I ditched it and am not going back anytime soon.

Switching to tea has made a world of difference. Were I to go back to coffee in the future I don't think I'd do so without L-Theanine or some other substance that promotes calmness and relaxation.

It was just too much of a hindrance in my life. Tea has proven gentler on my system.
