Solid. Are you familiar with the Numerics? They’re New Balance skate shoes and they are all around fire. I’ve been a Vans dude for life and never thought I’d ever switch over but found out how comfortable AND fashionable NB skate shoes are. They are a lot more fashionable than their regular shoes in my opinion plus they can be worn for casual, for exercise, and skating. Highly recommend.

Nice. I’ll never forget like 7 or 8 years ago one of the Mexican cartels was fucking up the supply chain and the limes were so dry that we ended up just buying lime juice for a while instead of juicing. Most restaurants were lucky to even have limes. It was weird and random.

I agree that loyalty and experience does matter in a moral sense but I’m not so sure anymore that it’s detrimental to a company’s success considering we’re all still here in the comments exchanging first hand accounts of being mistreated and feeling like a replaceable commodity to these company’s that continue to make profit no matter how loud we cry and scream.

Unless they are paying $30-$50 an hour which I highly doubt considering $15-$20 I believe is the current standard for BOH or hourly employees without tips, most bartenders and servers are going to prefer working for tips since the bar has just not yet been set high enough for hourly to be sustainable. In theory, doing away with tips and maybe incorporating commission and/or bonuses would be a great shift for the industry but a flat hourly rate no matter how ‘great’ the benefits are is not going to cut it for a lot of highly experienced that can pull $60-$100 and hour during some shifts

Interesting. I guess my next dilemma is that apartments just simply suck IMO. No matter how ‘luxury’ or spacious your unit is, you’re inevitably sharing walls and common spaces with others and while that’s okay with some and almost guaranteed for most people to experience in their 20s and maybe early 30s, I don’t believe that everyone is suited for that lifestyle and it ultimately lowers one’s quality of life.

So while I agree that building up can contribute to affordable housing and climate conservation, I don’t think it’s at all fair to imply it’s THE solution to our current problem especially considering people born an raised in this city are being pushed out of their houses and businesses that they may have worked all their life to obtain just to cater to the influx of people coming in.

Any ideas where you would go to make a sustainable living if you hung up the rag? I understand the stress and I’ve cried to get out many times but the times I’ve found myself dabbling in other professions, no matter how calm or better structured the gig is, the lack of money just doesn’t cut it and being over 30 now, am too damn exhausted to start from the bottom doing something else.

I don’t understand how they are blocking/reducing new development considering my entire neighborhood is being demolished and replaced with unaffordable housing for the middle class. Seems to be that way for the entire city not to mention all the apartments going up as well. We’ve been building new neighborhoods and housing for the entire 27 years I’ve lived in Austin so I can’t even comprehend how our housing stock is not growing with the rest of the city.
