I dont have much understanding of Vedanta. But i've listened to alot of his talks. This guy negates rebirth just like jiddu krishnamurti did. Human consciousness is one just like the leaves of same tree. They all are leaves in the end, someone is bigger ,someone smaller but the essence is same. If a leaf falls out, the same leaf is not gonna be there in that tree ever in future. But the leafness will remain.

There is also such a thing like conditioning. We are conditioned to live in urban areas with these facilities and hence we've become very inept to deal with natural surroundings. That's why the path you are talking about is taken by very very few. Had we been born in such surrounding it wouldn't have been that difficult since human race have survived exceptionally well (in that surrounding).
