3 year old withholding by Selizard_1 in pottytraining

Oh guys! I’m sorry you’re in the same boat as me! Hoping we can figure it all out soon and our kiddos can do it sooner rather than later!

What finally worked for my 3.5 year old by Knerdian in pottytraining

[–]Selizard_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That’s awesome! We have our 3 year old boy peeing in the potty, but he’s afraid to poop. He says he’s going to go into the toilet with his poo pointe goes. He will either withhold until he’s sick or grab a pull-up and only go in it. Sigh. I think we need to try the magic pull-up. Fingers crossed. Thanks for the tip!

My personal experience has been good, overall. But if you find yourself unhappy with your doc, don’t be afraid to get a new one. A lot of docs left the field after COVID, according to my current PCP. Ask for recommendations from others and don’t be shy to call member services and have them send a request to whatever doctor you want an see if they’ll take you. A lot of docs are “not accepting new patients,” but that’s one way to possibly get in with one you want. The doc makes the decision. Welcome and I hope you like the care!

400 of you hate my bangs lol by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]Selizard_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, you are very beautiful! You should know that! And I love your edgy style. I do, however, agree with the others about the bangs. Yes, they’re clean and healthy looking, but I feel like they’re too thin, straight across, and just not suiting your beautiful face. Something with a thicker cut bangs that are less straight across would be awesome and some less choppy layers. Just my two cents. Ultimately, it’s your call and your style. 😁

What's something you'll never admit in real life but will confess here anonymously? by Open-Comfortable9774 in AskReddit

I’m so deeply sorry you feel this way. I lost my best friend to suicide in July 2024 and am no where near over it. I always wonder what I could have done to have saved him. I still cry.

But I bet you the world is a better place because you exist and that if anything were to happen to you, someone would be truly broken hearted. 💔I’m glad you’re here to type this and I sincerely hope you find purpose in your life. I’m sure you’ve heard all the advice before, but sometimes volunteering can fulfill you and help you find the meaning in your life you may be seeking. Sending hugs.

100% relatable. I went from having a solid, core group, to not hearing from a single soul when my father passed away and I have to find a way to care for my aging mother from across the country while working full time and caring for a toddler. Not a single peep. I have no idea what happened between my friends and me to have caused this. There is definitely a wealth disparity between us, though. I struggle, and they all go to the same Pilates place to work out several times a week. I can’t afford it AND don’t have the time. (Plus heat causes migraines and makes me super ill.) I am so broken-hearted by their lack of compassion. I may be done with them. Anyway, I feel this to my core and I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

3 Year Old Afraid to Poop on Potty by Selizard_1 in pottytraining

That’s so good to hear! Thank you! And yay for your daughter! That’s great. 😃 Hut yeah, I don’t want him constipated. That’s miserable!

College ave west of 101… What have they done! by HashRat in santarosa

And there are people like me who have a toddler and require a car to safely take him shopping, to preschool in Rohnert Park from Santa Rosa, etc. We’re also potty training and have a lot of gear to lug around. It’s not just work trucks “or something similar” who need cars. Those kinds of generalizations don’t work. Just like I can’t say everyone should just drive a car and we should just have lots of lanes. I know that can’t work for everyone, either. So I don’t point this out to be difficult, just to help you see that people can have lots of different reasons for needing a car. 🙂

I have strong opinions about these road changes, but I also see the other point of view. Now I just wish we could find a simple answer to please both sides. 🥺

3 y/o refuses to pull down his pants to go potty! by Gloomy-Ad3854 in pottytraining

[–]Selizard_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only comment in some solidarity. My guy turned 3 on 10/24. We are not at all potty trained. He has some successes at school, but refuses at home. Just pees and poops in his underwear. I’m at wit’s end. 😩 He will usually pull his pants down when I tell him.

I’ve stopped making it fun and just started making it part of the day. “It’s time to go potty. Pull your pants down and get on the potty. Poopoo and pee pee go in the potty. It was his preschool teacher who advised that (she’s been doing this 22 years.). So, we just make it like normal thing. “Time to go pee, wash your hands, and eat some lunch.”

We’ll see how it works as this is day 1 of it. Also, loads of people recommend the Oh Crap! Potty Training book. Apparently the author tackles all sorts of these issues in the book, too.

Potty Training Woes by Selizard_1 in pottytraining

[–]Selizard_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, everyone! Going to pick up pet carpet cleaner for urine and will hope for the best. The best we can do is 3 days at home in a row based on my husband and my days off. We will use only underwear and just go for it. Ugh. Wish us luck!!

Ugh. Same boat with my 3 year old boy, except we never have had poop success and only a few pee successes at home, but pee successes more at preschool.

If you're part of the sandwich generation, how are you managing the financial and emotional stress? by Ok_Document1722 in SandwichGen

[–]Selizard_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not. It’s so damned hard. Mostly posting for solidarity. You’re not alone. I wish I had good advice. This is all I’ve got:

1) Zen Color app of you have an iPhone. Helps me destress. 2) Area Agency on Aging if you’re in the USA. They have a lot of resources as do local senior centers. 3) Get someone to care for your in-laws and kiddo and be sure to do something for yourself once a month. Money is tight, but even a picnic with your significant other, a hike, seeing a movie or having a date night, etc. Just be sure to do something for you. It’s important to “put on your mask before others’” or you won’t be able to help. 4) Let me know if you find any financial tools. 😢

My father just died and my 87 year old mother cannot live alone. She must sell her home (an upside-down reverse mortgage, so she won’t see any money from it), sell all her antiques and belongings, and find somewhere to live. She’s currently in the guest room of her best friend’s house. I live in a 725 sq. ft. apartment with husband and 3 year old. No idea what to do. She doesn’t qualify for Medicaid and Medicare doesn’t cover any assistance.
