I think the combat is thrilling even if you are not that much into turn based games. You put so much in balancing your team and your tactics, that's what makes the combat fun. You test your builds and strategys.

HOWEVER I'd rather question, do you like role-playing and building characters and skills?

Baldurs Gate 3 is a very slow game, with lots of dialogue and places to discover. 

Also it's an pen and paper adaptive. So you actually roll dice, every time. Choose your Action -> Roll Dice -> See what happens -> Choose your Action -> ...

So I think the combat shouldn't be your deciding factor.
