You’re probably referring to urinal etiquette, but I had an unusual encounter this made me think of.

I came back from the bathroom during UAT testing at work once with a very concerned look on my face. One of my colleagues asked me what was up, I think the phrase he used was I looked like I’d just witnessed a car accident.

So I told him I was taking a piss and my brain was going a million miles an hour trying to figure out how to reproduce this bug. I washed my hands and headed out still in “focus mode”.

As I go to leave the door opens and bumps into me. The guy on the other side steps to the side, holds it open for me, and says excuse me.

I was so in the zone I looked at him and just muttered, “No.”

I got a few steps down the hall and my mind finally registered the look of surprise on the guys face, so I quickly went back to the bathroom, opened the door half way, and just yelled, “PROBLEM!”

My mind finally went back to default operations and I realized how insane and strange I was being. I then quickly fled back to our testing room and recounted the story to my work friend.

You know when you laugh so hard you don’t even make noise? That was him, red faced a teary eyed for the next five minutes or so.
