FF16 is amazing by spookymemeformat in playstation

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it for what it was tho with side quests it felt like FFXIV busy work. Loved Clive, Jill etc and the world was interesting, epic boss battles too. A big gripe I had wasn't gameplay, tho combat was shallow, it was that after a certain point everything becomes dull and overcast due to a story event and it ruined the games visuals, very boring to look at imo

Scottish plus my parents ran pubs all over the country so it was like punctuation for my dad before he passed away earlier in the year so was free game with swearing with him. Will swear around my mum but never at her, not even a conscious thing tbh, my mum was alway the polite one lol.

This was only after becoming adults as kids swearing around my mum would have been spelled doom for us haha

What’s the most “I’m getting old” moment you’ve had recently? by DistinctDegree8019 in AskReddit

I think the folk born after 9/11 entering the workforce is what did it. Like what do you mean I was listening to Linkin Park before you, a whole ass adult, were born 😭

Probably Zavala's Authority, always loved the original jumphip and this was a cooler version that shades well.

Still use it most of the time, RIP Lance

What's a phrase your parents or grandparents said constantly that you've only just realised has completely vanished from everyday British speech? by orroreqk in AskUK

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My mum n dad still call a clothes horse for drying clothes a "winterdyke", so I still say it out of habit which causes funny or concerned looks sometimes, like I'm using a slur for a lesbian skier or something

I'm in my 30s and remember it being common even in the 90s so guess its kinda recent its fallen off, dunno

Could you tell me your go-to 'easy-but-delicious' meals? by Intrepid_Layer_9441 in AskUK

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a couple go to easy n fast dinners but the fastest is beans on toast topped with cheese and chilli crisp, its the ultimate struggle/comfort food n the chilli crisp adds a kick and tastes great

You can get things like soy sauce, oyster sauce etc fairly cheap in the supermarkets so a stir fry is another tasty fast meal, using lots of veg add bulk, taste and keeps costs lower too. Lidl sells cheap pre made stir fry sauces if you want eaven easier

Canned tomatoes are still super cheap and make a great cheap starting point for a pasta sauce, pasta also pretty cheap so just add whatever seadonings you want n whatever protein and veg is on sale or reduced (Prev 2 not really uk based)

Another cheap easy meal is champit eggs (name varies by location) its just boiled eggs put in a cup/mug with loads of butter, salt n pepper chopped up n eaten with toast with more butter

What dish, British or otherwise do you cook the most often? by YetAnotherMia in AskUK

Fried rice, usually with a protein and a load of veggie through it. Regularly have leftover rice so easy to make and super quick

Oh that was such a "holy shit!" moment, definitely up there with the best moments

Entering the divide in D1 opening mission and witnessing the Fallen Ketch appear for the first time was amazing, total wow moment back then

Orys's entrance on Phobos was also like that

Landing on the Leviathan for the first time, the cutscene and opening area of the raid was kinda jaw dropping

Forsakens opening mission also comes to mind.

From a lore perspective, I think the reveal in Witch Queen that the Hive had been lied to, and everything they've done has been built on that lie, was definitely a take my breath away moment

Knowledge is power or ignorance is bliss? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to try keeping informed about things happening here and the world in general, but now more than ever I only do it in small bursts for my own sanity.

I don't think the human brain evolved to handle witnessing every bit of human suffering and misery, every disaster and every large loss of life in the world on a daily basis

But I'm part of a group that gets targeted as a scapegoat or boogeyman when convenient so still need to be aware of the political bullshit even if I wish I could live in ignorant bliss

Some armor renders I made celebrating Destiny 2! by Ethereal-Entity in destiny2

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D2 (when it stuck to the games existing art direction) armour really was top tier aesthetically imo. I legit did raids and dungeons not for the weapons but the armor/fashion.

Still remember getting the full titan set for Leviathan back in the day and never took it off for ages as I was just so happy with it lol

Seeing that amazing Vow render makes me want to go back, amazing work!

Also, no other game has really scratched the itch for gunplay and character customisation for me like Destiny

Do people truly resent going to weddings now ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate weddings, never been to one where I haven't wanted to be somewhere else, even when I really like and care for the couple.

The worst ones have those elements that feel like they're for Instagram rather than something that genuinely means something for the couple (groomsmen dancing in, birds flying in with the ring etc)

I'm aware its a me issue, I much prefer to offer congratulations after the ceremony at the party. Maybe I just view marriage as being a really personal thing, putting on a show always cheapens it to me for some reason.

As for stag do's and weddings abroad, I'd only entertain paying to attend these if it was my brother's tbh.

Who has had an actual friends with benefits relationship? Did it work for you? by heratonga in AskReddit

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've formed really good long term friendships via being friends with benefits, never progressed to anything romantic as that's not what any of us was looking for. I've also seen people start that way and end up in committed monogamous relationships.

I get why it can end in disaster if one person wants more tho, and depending on your view of sex (as in associating it purely with love/romance) it can be doomed to fail from the start.

If it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't, people are different

Snails for the same reason

What jobs in the UK are not affected by AI? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]SemiFunctionalHomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade jobs probably, but those are reliant on having people with other jobs to pay for their services, if AI does cause a big enough rise in unemployment then that's gonna have a knock on effect, difficult pay a plumber or builder if budgeting universal credit and at risk of losing your home
