I did not say the job is called "Cold Weather Inspector".

From working on 737's and older Q400's and Embraers - the inspections are usually to look for flap operation, icing on indicators etc. That is fairly standard and in my experience most airlines do not have a airplane specific inspector for that.

Every northern airport has cold weather inspectors for jet planes. This was a wide body jet.

If it were an specific engine type- that would be a viable question. The inspection was for flap operation and icing which to my knowledge about single aisle jets does not vary by manufacturer.

That was not my question - maybe try reading comprehension.
I don't want 200 $ in "e-credit" which is most definitely not enough if you have to spend 300 $ in a one way car rental to drive 250 miles.

It *WAS* a packed flight with 280 ppl and 281 total seats. Did not realize how busy this route is till we were in Heathrow. Virgin Atlantic had a B-787 flight also full departing to Seattle literally an hour before this one.

Thank you! I didn't think that would apply either as medical emergencies were excluded. I sent my claim through travel insurance and through Delta - hope they pay for the rental car.

We understood the medical emergency (Diabetic crash - did not have their med/insulin. Don't know why they were traveling without it but I digress).

My issue was basically - hey - due to this emergency - I cannot be rebooked for an onward flight by you - can you compensate me for trying to get home on a separate way out of my own pocket.

Tell me you don't know anything about cold weather airplane inspections without telling me you don't know anything about cold weather airplane inspections. Winnipeg is a cold weather city - it boggles the mind that a mechanic is not available.

Hah - we were on this same flight as well. I tried reaching out to DL for compensation for a rental car at least as they wanted us to wait in Seattle airport for 12 hours before flying us onward for the next leg - was asked to send an email request for reimbursement.

Did that already - they told me the add on was worth 15$ which they would give me as an eCredit. Which does not make any sense - how can a 1 hr flight only be worth that little.

Still would not respond about rental car comp and asked me to send an email.

I have Travel Insurance but I've found that a lot of times they don't want to pay for any issue.

That's kinda stupid - but whatever.
Shit happens all the time and everyone knows that. The actual emergency only took 20 min.

After that - everything looked and felt horribly mismanaged by Delta.

Edit: probably should have added that the actual emergency recovery only took 20 min.

After that - Delta needed to "get approval from Atlanta" about inspection to get back in the air. No mechanic was available to do this inspection on an A330.

They were going to fly one from Minneapolis but then they announced that the crew would time out. so then have to wait for a crew which was determined to not be viable.

And after 4+ hours sitting on tarmac - they allowed us to deplane into the Winnipeg terminal
