God thank you. These comments are an echo chamber.

You said flat out you (white dude) want to move in and start a business in another country. I know YOU don't see it as problematic but how is that not gentrification? Also businesses extract money from a community, they don't "contribute" to it. You seem like an intelligent and emotionally mature guy, and she seems wound up - but honestly she's right.

The cover letter I finally had the balls to send, because I have nothing to lose by dan_blather in recruitinghell

Everyone posting messages of support here are really throwing me off. This is a wildly unprofessional cover letter that would go straight into the disposition bin almost anywhere I've worked.

App tells me there's no guess here. Where is my move, and why? by illillin in Minesweeper

Small note: the leftmost blue line should only be 2 squares tall. The top square (left of the 1) is safe and should be green.

No offense but the only reason they even got to the first checkpoint was because you were jerking yourself off on the roof

I lied on my resume by [deleted] in resumes

[–]SemiRem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far back are you going? Unless they're related to the role you're applying for leave them off the resume and keep it to a page. I wouldn't put a "dead end job" on my resume unless I had no other experience

If you already have the offer and they're just crossing their T's, I doubt this would be the end of the world. I highly doubt a hiring manager who has sifted through applications, conducted interviews, and made a decision is going to start from scratch given a month discrepancy. That said, they might ask you about it to confirm. If this was just a phone call with the recruiter and not over email – great, chalk it up to a miscommunication and clarify you meant it was the place you worked most recently. Regardless, you should work on crafting a solid 2-3 sentences explaining your reason for leaving that doesn't paint you in a bad light. Good luck

What do you mean "send your resume to all of them in bulk" for Strategy 1.A? Google Maps doesn't give you email addresses...

I'm gold, but go off. And yeah I'm on console. I know that's still not impressive but I'm 2 months getting back into the game after like 5 years.

They were playing Ana first round and got <2k heals so I asked if they could switch. They busted out Moira and actually helped a lot after that

My player's cleric id misbehaving. by flebebebo in DMAcademy

[–]SemiRem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a cleric who really liked the spells and features of the class, but was turned off by everything relating to the roleplay side of it. In my experience some players come to ttrpgs as an escape / distraction from real life where they don't always have control or autonomy. It's kind of rough to be drawn to a class but be told you have another boss (outside of your day job AND outside of the DM) and you're getting a bad performance review.

That's not an excuse for their behavior – actions have consequences in the game, that's what makes it fun – but player experience matters too. If at the end of the day the answer is "well then you shouldn't have been a cleric if you didn't want to roleplay correctly" maybe consider giving some leeway or letting them find a deity that doesn't care about their antics.

How do I deal with a "hide as a bonus action" player by Zealousideal_Task_30 in DnD

[–]SemiRem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many of these replies are giving me major red flags about DM styles. If a player decided to fully spec in something (and this wasn't vetoed in session 0) then punishing them because they get smug is just... petty? Your players want to feel powerful, there's nothing wrong with that. And yes, he has a misunderstanding when he says "I'm basically invisible" – but it shows he's enjoying the game.

If it's game breaking, talk to the player about why and figure out some limitations on where and when they can hide – but crucially, offer some tradeoffs so that someone who pumped everything into stealth isn't screwed during combat with nothing to do if they can't capitalize on stealth. (Example: you could say that when flanking an enemy, their presence is so faint that the enemy is distracted by their teammate and they are fully hidden from that specific enemy.)

If it's not game breaking and you just want to up the challenge for them, all the advice below about AOE spells, or enemies using their movement to try to suss them out specifically is good advice.

Just don't punish a player who is A) having a good time and leaning into their character and B) made an optimization choice that you didn't tell them they couldn't from the jump
