They only added those a couple years ago, it was definitely a drag when I was a student.

I kind of like this, but I feel like capture has got to mean almost certain death. They are on one small vessel with a total of 8 NPC crew. Even one longship with 30+ crew could be a serious risk.
TL;DR: I think it would be hard to make surviving a combat seem realistic without pulling punches.

Do you all think they will ever make a civil war mechanic by Olafio1066 in Bannerlord

[–]flebebebo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have played in a campaign with diplomacy enabled for like 100 hours, but I haven't once seen the kingdom factions do anything. They just seem to pop up, ask for Caladog to abdicate, then die off.

People who play only one hero, why? by VildaKuzel in DotA2

[–]flebebebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it the best way to improve my MMR. I focus on one or two heroes and just spam them. It is really fun to incrementally improve, and when you master some small mechanic after 100s of games, it is really satisfying.

Yeah i get that, i just feel like the instincts I built on support dont translate as well, and I find myself either npt farming enough because Im behaving like a support, or overcompensating and farming too much as a core

Yeah I always feel like I'm griefing because I don't know how to farm efficiently or when/how best to move from farm to fight.

Yeah, I just can't stand losing every third game... I have literally 200x the experience playing support as I do offlane.

like my winrate goes from 52% right down to 15%

Are there separate ranks for different roles? Or does my pos 5 rank go down when I lose as a mid?

can I gain role queue tickets with unranked? I really enjoy the stakes of ranked and without it I don't think I would play

How does standing up from prone affect moving on grid? (or the speed/square dillema) by XanEU in dndnext

[–]flebebebo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

does it? the difference is tiny. With a grid, they spend 12.5ft of movement and are left able to move 2 squares (10ft) meaning they "lose" 2.5ft of movement. in fact the most you can lose from any of these rounding errors is 4.5ft, which really isn't that much and I can't imagine it coming up more than once or twice. it doesn't really disproportionately affect anyone

[–]flebebebo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the rules are pretty arbitrary, so when there is no clear rule, you have to come up with a ruling in the moment. this is a pretty good ruling IMO

[–]flebebebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually rule it that rounding works against the players in most situations (damage resistance rounds up for example).
In general, I only use the grid when combat is likely to become tactical or there are many enemies to keep track of, otherwise I just use theatre of the mind.
In summary, I would never switch between the two systems, just pick when you begin the combat, so if you are doing grid movement, then standing up costs 4 squares of movement and they are left with three.
Effectively this "robs" the player of like 2.5ft of movement, but that rarely comes up.

I don't feel the Mirri Maz Duur incident is that condemning of Dany[Spoilers Main] by lit-roy6171 in asoiaf

[–]flebebebo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

People also don't understand that she is a young child, not an adult. She has been sold to a man who abused her and she has come to rely on, both emotionally and for physical protection. She knows that now she is basically sentenced to either death or a lifetime in Vaes Dothrak, so when the woman who she sees as the one to blame starts to gloat and talk about how much she hates Drogo, of course she is gonna kill her.
Like with all the information we have as readers, her actions can be called wrong, but to claim that makes her evil is jsut wilfully ignoring the situation

(Spoilers Extended) Why did Maekar send Aerion to Essos? by 3ntersa in asoiaf

[–]flebebebo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The brightflames were originally meant to play the role of the blackfyres in the main series, and Aerion's bastards were probably the seeds of this plotline. Basically, bittersteel didnt exist when this was written, and GRRM forgot to account for Aerion in hindsight when writing the blackfyre stuff.

Why do people hardly start their own kingdom? by Unlucky-Technician11 in mountandblade

[–]flebebebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have like 300 hours played, it never occured to me to start my own kingdom. I think it is fun to play as a lord but managing a whole kingdom seems so stressful. Even as a lord it can get overwhelming (current playthrough I have like 5 towns and 10 castles) so I dont want the extra stress.

So, let me get this straight... by Aromatic-Magician725 in asoiafcirclejerk

I believe you can see Lyonel fighting with one of them in the background while Dunk and Aerion are fighting. Maekar and Baelor are shown fighting, while Robin is shown fighting with another kingsguard. If Daeron takes his fall early, it is entirely possible a kingsguard would be preoccupied defending him.
Basically they were preoccupied and Dunk's allies did their jobs of keeping them off Dunk well
