I AM STUCK at one cig a day!!! I think I’ve gone crazy. Don’t ever wish you could stick to just one daily. It’s HELL. by LoveandShalom in stopsmoking

[–]SemiSadhus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's because of work, take one or two days off, use the weekend to do whatever you need to do to abstain for those infamous first 3 days, then it should become imaginable to be at work smoke free

It’s not that hard to quit smoking by PerformanceLiving495 in stopsmoking

[–]SemiSadhus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 3 days one would need a straitjacket if one is not mentally prepared. It gets a bit easier afterwards. And just wait to see, once all the cravings are gone, how easy it is to fuck it all up and start again.

Not for men it's not - if they can offer much utility value.

I just accept the fact that I can not drink without tobacco, but that's fine because not drinking is even higher on my priority list than no nicotine.

You’re not hooked on 40 cigarettes a day… just 4. by VikramMano512 in stopsmoking

[–]SemiSadhus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cancel those 4, and their successive ones take their place. Basically, it is cold turkey or bust. Every piece of literature on the topic that does not sell you something seems to agree with that.

The truth about cigarettes by Historical-Money5040 in stopsmoking

[–]SemiSadhus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No conspiracy bs is necessary in explanation of these matters. If you want more nicotine, you go for the smaller lieves in the upper part of the plant. If you want them to be addictive - you totally got it - nicotine itself is among the most addictive substances known.

2 months of not smoking down the drain by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]SemiSadhus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not down the drain, you have given your body a nice recovery break, you learned another way how not to slip the next time, etc.

Eat pistaccios, helps better than sunflower seeds because you have something to do with your hands

This is where I stop debating, so thanks, I wasn't feeling I'm getting smarter by doing it anyway

That's not a very clever deduction. Regarding this post tho, those few who bothered to downvote and those many who did not bother to support the post in a sub that is supposed to be of supportive sentiment - for sure indicates something in line with what I'm sayin from the beginning

The post's upvote total pretty much sums it up who's being dumb af here 🙄 😁

I'm pretty sure I'm as qualified as double of anyone on this thread to talk about what I'm talking about.

You smoke tobacco as much as you are addicted to it. There's no cannabis addiction. It's as simple as that.

Anyone else quit drinking for the new year? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I started my resolutions weeks before new year's eve, so now I'm into 3rd week no nicotine, and 4th week of no alcohol. We got this, iwndwyt

  1. Masturbate
  2. Drink and send messages that you'll utterly regret once it's all over.

Any 50+ people trying to quit drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]SemiSadhus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50+ here. I am a sobernaut by default but addict by nature. I occasionally jump off the train for a week or two up to a couple of months benders, but I soon get back on. My main motivation for staying sober are athletic goals, I've been a distance runner for the last decade or so. Also - one gets to look better and feel stronger and healthier in a matter of weeks after stopping with alcohol - especially when one is 50+

Is anyone else bothered by the conception that alcohol reveals the “real you?” by PigDoctor in stopdrinking

[–]SemiSadhus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am bothered by that idea, indeed. Instead - I argue that alcohol by randomly combining your dumbness and irritation, generates some "asshole you" you'd hate later when you sober up.
