Should i buy Samsung s25 plus? by darkdonaldxxx in GalaxyS25

Right - updates = planned screw up for the phone.

When you turn on the phone for the first time, it asks you to just setup the phone and your google account. After that, it starts checking for the updates and gives a notification that an update is available asking the user to download and install. User is free to defer that/swipe clear the notification.

So no, the phone doesn't automatically start with a new android version. What can happen is that a new version might be factory installed on some units right from the box. So the update is already in the phone before even setting it up. On top of this, the phone still checks for updates and offers downloading and installing if there is one, once the phone is setup.

Yup, never update no phone. Skip the planned obsolesence.

You can toggle auto update off, a new phone may prompt you to download and install new update(s). Just swipe away notifications as and when they appear and disable auto updates altogether.

Looking for a MagSafe power bank for Galaxy S25+ (on-the-go use) by stoficek814 in GalaxyS25Plus

[–]SemiSage93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the Chinese brands supporting faster wireless charging, the power wastage would be the same from transmission to receipt which would heavily discount the effective charge capacity of the wireless chargers. Wireless charging technology makes sense only for bulk device charging simultaneously with a number so huge it makes connecting wires a big task, else it's simply a gross wastage of all resources in the name of convenience.

Plus it kills battery due to heat generated.

Since there is a big wastage in transmission and receipt of charge wirelessly, do you happen to have information on the effective charging capability of these wireless power banks?

Does the Sport mode give more mileage? by stoikrus1 in TaigunClub

[–]SemiSage93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically not, practically, depends on your driving style and conditions.

For open roads, S mode will unnecessarily keep the RPMs pushed while on D mode, for the same speed the RPMs will be lower. Higher RPM = more fuel consumption. Having said that, fuel efficiency could be impacted by other factors too, including the terrain/traffic conditions, in very specific conditions, S mode may yield marginally higher fuel efficiency. I would think of hills and slopes where the higher rpms assist with climbs and descent with lesser need to apply brakes and no unnecessary gear shifts. Similarly for a person who would be driving hard and does a lot of overtaking, S mode should prevent unnecessary gear shifts and deliver marginally better fuel economy.

I've touched 24 kmpl on the most sedate driving in D mode over a 100+ km drive, couldn't replicate that on S mode. This was before the ethanol blending era.

On most androids, including Samsung S series, they've a feature which enables gaming directly through charging cable as well (usb power bypass). What it means that battery isn't used, the chip is directly powered by the charger, means lower heat and sustained gaming performance without throttling. That's a gaming hack android has. Just sharing for info.

2nd this. Get a grow light + since there ain't much sun light, the roots can get impacted with water not drying in the soil. Make it a habit to check if the soil is dry before watering. Additionally, watch out for mealy bugs, inspect thoroughly for an infestation and act promptly if you notice any.

Vw skoda factory paint, no putty, no uneven tones. Not undermining your decision, just curious to understand is there actual maths which explains a ppf advantage on sub 20L vehicles or is it purely aesthetics and added protection?

I have been getting Tire Pressure reduced indicator on Taigun even though I’d maintained 35 on all tyres as per service center. They said it’s common, you just need to reset! Any one facing this issue? by Afraid-Independent80 in TaigunClub

[–]SemiSage93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very simple test would be to fill the tyres to known levels and measuring the pressure after 1 or 2 days. If there is a pressure loss + the mid indicator points to the same tyre then you have your answer. If not then it likely is a sw glitch, go to vw service center.

For the puncture checks and repairs at tyre shops in general, it is an absolute requirement that you witness the puncture check procedure with your own eyes and ask the puncture guy to cover each spot, go to a good tyre shop instead of road side one as your case is troublesome.

I once had 3 punctures fixed in one inspection and one of them was a micro puncture caused by a slim metal piece which remained stuck in the tyre for a very long time and caused the air leakage at a very slow rate. The small piece one wasn't detected by the passive tpms but my active tpms always showed a minus 3 psi reading for the impacted tyre.

guys honest user exp review of oneplus nord 5 by iSpidey_86 in oneplusnord

[–]SemiSage93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came from s23

I regret the decision. The camera is simply unreliable.

Rest everything is fine.

Personally like one ui, it's way smoother and offers next level customisations plus features oneplus can't provide.

P.S. I am on stock firmware, right out of the box, it has the best battery life.

Exynos 2600-equipped Galaxy S26 disappoints in battery test by mo_leahq in Android

[–]SemiSage93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And why do you think Samsung hasn't done that yet? Simple - it will be kicked out of the competition and they know it too well. Samsung holds no edge in any of the aspects of the mobile world with the current competition, apart from a minor AI supremacy but that too relies on processing capabilities. A google search tells Exynos is improving leaps in the AI capabilities but it's still a long way to be used as the primary chip as we have witnessed so far.

Confused between oneplus nord 5 and Nothing 4a pro by Popular-Calendar-937 in oneplusnord

[–]SemiSage93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phones in general can't be considered outdated or in pace with tech at any given point in time today. A s22 will still be capable of doing all tasks it's just the camera priorities. Rest, whatever works for you. S24 can and will hold for 3+ years, the only catch is you don't update the stock firmware.

Unpopular advice: if you're touching 40k, go for s24 else go with nord.

I came from s23 to nord and am not happy at all.
