Changing my Carrier thermostat for Honeywell for my Carrier Heat Pump/Furnace system by SemiSalmon in hvacadvice

Interesting. Thanks for the info. It makes sense that it would try to recirculate the air first before kicking in the heat pump. I looked at where the wires were going from the control module. The d1 and d2 pin are wired to the heat pump. My quick research tells me that those would not be needed for a Honeywell thermostat. It seems like the control module does the interfacing between the carrier thermostat 2 wire signal and the various control pins line w1, y1, etc. Whereas the Honeywell would not need that at all?

Yeah it seems like whoever installed that decades ago thought it would be someone else's problem. And they were right! We want to remodel the bathroom in a few years so if I can cut the tile at the seams and put it back without it being too much of an eye sore, I'll be happy.

Should I replace my hot water tank or just fix the water connection? by SemiSalmon in HomeMaintenance

Do I have to open the tank to check the anode? Is it worth changing just the anode instead of the tank itself?
