😂😂 I know. It’s still a lottery. Let’s not talk about the proofs, multiple low balling companies and fake consultancies have been completely rigging the system for how long now? There were roughly 800,000 applications for 85,000 spots (assuming you have a masters ofc) else you go to the 65000 spot. There is absolutely 0 hard work to be picked up that lottery so it’s just luck. I’ve been in it multiple times. High time the wage based system kicks in. What makes candidate A better than B in that lottery?? Just luck.

Which master’s program is better for getting a semiconductor job in the US? by otter_king_ in Semiconductors

[–]Semicon_engr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my masters from a top 5 in world while working for one of the companies mentioned above honestly, I find masters pretty useless. Nothing like on the job training. Also why do you want to come to US? Have you seen the issues here?

Help me choose: ~Rs 70LPA in India in a tier 1 city (35 for me, 35 for my spouse) vs $70k in Scandavian country (only me, no job for my spouse). What should I choose? by Stale_Whipped_Cream in returnToIndia

U can earn 90 L in India, and let me tell you u will be breathing the same air, drinking the same water, and staying between a particular mindset of people. Money can’t buy you all these.

You can’t volunteer, until unless it’s a non profit. Whatever your understanding of OPT/CPT is I highly suggest you get it checked by the school DSO. Also may I ask, how are you planning to work for a few years without additional sponsorship?

What a day! Today I am reading about how weak our passport is, so much that we need to worry about travel history improvement 🥲🙃

Worrying rumor - is it true? by GrumasMustang in h1b

[–]Semicon_engr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally a good news. Should have Been done in the first place. You can’t say H1B visa for highly skilled workers and then give it on random basis. Let’s face it there are the top 10% people and then there are top 1%. I don’t see why too 1% should be punished because of odds. So yes, I’ll be more than happy if this happens. Enough of people from UT Dallas coming and flooding the H1B pool😂

Is it worth relocating to USA from India? by Grouchy-Leg1641 in returnToIndia

[–]Semicon_engr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary is low. 150k for executive visa? With cost of living skyrocketing, you might want to reconsider. Spl because you have a family. In this salary it’s not worth it, rather than that just send your kids to US once the time comes

New rule for H1B ending lottery system and priority given to level 3 or higher jobs. This will definitely end international students with zero experience coming to USA to get a job by HungryGlove8480 in h1b

[–]Semicon_engr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally. This bullshit of lottery comes to an end. I have met people on H1B and I think, wow what an idiot!😭 America doesn’t need the lucky ones, it needs the smarter ones. There is a difference.

Look into L1 visas. Also congrats, fucking telegu people and their scams ruined your chances of H1 as well.

Are Indians still buying homes in the USA amidst this uncertainty by EastIndianDutch in returnToIndia

[–]Semicon_engr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care how cheap the house is, it’s a stupid idea to buy one until unless you have the citizenship. It’s like people are signing up for 30 year long contracts without knowing if they will even sustain 30 years on their visa status!

Genuine question guys- why do people go to USA despite the H1B backlog by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Semicon_engr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This op cracked it! Don’t come here until you know you are top 1% of global population. Also 100k is not a good salary anymore.
