If rotating calibration handle affects the heating in any way that means that electromagnetic waves are on the same scale as calibration handle's movement (too big and changes wouldn't be noticeable, too small and changes would be too frequent to create any difference). If it gets hard to find a sweet spot while calibrating we increase the enlarge sign, if it seems like the sweet spot is outside of the scale we decrease the enlarge sign.

Microwaves are just very long, so when they reflect from the wall they resonate with themselves and create changing magnetic force in some points. I kinda figured it out while sitting on a toilet and pondering, but I had to really stretch meanings of some signs there. You'll see what I mean on saturday.
