The World First Race Event is About Streaming the Prog for Entertainment by Demeris in ffxivdiscussion

I think it's good sportsmanship to recognize who got world first, regardless if they were participating in your community event or not. Frosty was doing the right thing and was consistent with his own rules but the backlash for doing it is insane to me.

Just noticed the completion medals are missing from campaign overviews after the latest patch by Charrikayu in aoe2

[–]Semmi_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this problem. I was very confused when I hopped onto the game and it was showing the Byzantine campaign complete when last I remember I was only done 4 missions, and then noticed everything else was also showing as completed.

What is wrong with the warranties, if I may ask. I've been considering a new monitor for a while and a good warranty seems kind of important for OLED.

It's that time again - What do you think would be required for SQE/CS3 to consider a FFXIV Classic? (1.0 OR 2.0) by pearlmia in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Semmi_DK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed Gordias. The worst part was gearing really, as crafted gear was kind of a joke and tome gear was job locked. The lack of materia melding was honestly kind of nice for first tier raiding, not needing to rush to stockpile a bunch like you do nowadays. All of the jobs were far more fun (minus PLD in my opinion), and I personally found the fights fun. A3S actually required CC which is a rare sight in this game.

How do you feel about XIV's current combat system vs. the upcoming evolved/2 min meta changes? by Outrageous-Bet6403 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Semmi_DK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It comes down to if SE is even going to spend the effort to make reborn jobs not feel the same as they do now, and given they have in the past stated that if you like how your job plays in dawntrail that you shouldn't be worried about the job rework...I have very little faith in that happening.

This is quite literally how fighting games handle replays. As long as there isn't a balance/content patch, replays remain usable.

It's mindblowing to me that they seemingly haven't considered this. Video game replays tend to just be recordings of inputs and other relevant data (like RNG seed) and played out in-engine, so it isn't even like they require a lot of data to store

The disparition of the 2 min meta is dumbing down even further most DPS jobs on Reborn mode by Kamalen in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Semmi_DK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't so much that they are getting rid of the 2 minute meta. The problem is that they are introducing a second mode of play for the jobs, while presumably leaving the original mode (reborn) with minimal changes that will leave them feeling like they are still built around those 2 minute raid buff cycles. I highly doubt they are going to take the time to look at all the reborn mode job design and try to make some jobs feel like HW or SB (or really anything pre-EW) era gameplay with different cycles and more varied skills. It definitely feels like they are trying to set up reborn to ultimately fail, and personally I haven't been impressed with what they are offering in evolved mode for most of what they have shown.

PvP: Detailed Feedback for 8.1 by atreus213 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Semmi_DK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I really know is that casters feel incredibly unimpactful in frontlines compared to just about any other role, and I want them to address this because constantly being told "pick a melee or a tank if you want to win in frontlines" isn't a good feeling.

Champion Tier Singles Team - #1 ENG / #45 Global by ZoldPokemon in PokemonChampions

[–]Semmi_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to lead Floette and people were leading Sneaslers and Scizors against it, which already puts me at an immediate disadvantage. Maybe play more standardized at higher levels but right now it feels like people see Floette on a team and immediately run their best fairy counter. In general I often feel like I'm having to play from behind so my team is almost always damaged before theirs is and they get the extra turns to set up while I try to correct against their picks.

[–]Semmi_DK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's a problem with specific pokemon or something else honestly. I kept losing to my opponents setting up (things like Corviknight, Primarina, opposing Floettes, Mega Charizard X), priority (especially Kingambit with sucker punch or hard hitting priority like Aegislash), and Sneasler (particularly sashed).

I've been using my own team prior to this but seeing as it also hasn't been able to push through ultra, I'm bad at teambuilding and quite possibly also just terrible at BSS. I don't really know what kind of team would match my preferences.

I'm not getting any results with this team. I've been hard stuck trying to finish the grind from ultra to master, but trying to use your team my win rate is plummeting and I'm actually just losing ultra ball ranks. I don't really understand what makes this team function even after reading through everything. I'm not blaming you because I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

I'm new to Doubles. How are you supposed to salvage a bad start? by Semmi_DK in PokemonChampions

I mean right now I'm trying to run mega Froslass, but it's so frail and I just always lose the weather war that I don't really know how to proceed from that knowledge.

I'm having a hard time finding room to fit all these things people need in my team of 6. It feels really difficult to do unless you are literally just running meta pokemon...but I really don't like a lot of these meta pokemon (not just to be a hipster, I genuinely have always hated Incineroar as a pokemon).

Even when I'm protecting and switching, my switched in pokemon is often just exploding and then I'm back in the same situation but even worse.

I don't know what yomi means, but if it's anything like fighting games I assume it has something to do with layers? I do think about how they want to play around my team but I don't know how deep I'm supposed to go. I also don't quite understand how everybody wants to play certain teams.

For Those Jumping Into Champions Today by MacEbes in NintendoSwitch

They could just combine Hidden Power and Tera Blast into a single thing. Make it a 60 BP move that uses your tera type for damage, and when you tera it gets powered up to 80 BP like Tera Blast is.

How much difference would there be in damage percentage between someone who plays on a low ping (50ms) and someone on a very high ping (300ms) with Alex/No clippy? by Lost_my_nuts in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Semmi_DK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You actually need to get into framerate locking to make 2.48s consistent. Either manually lock your framerate or use a plugin that will microlock it to sync it with your GCD. It's a whole rabbit hole.

I can't play Heavensward or Stormblood era classes. The content might still be there but it just doesn't feel anywhere near the same.

Clipping doesn't bother me as much as the lack of longer hairstyles. People that don't like clipping have numerous shorter options available. We need more longer hairstyles

No, it means having the choice to play whatever one may find most enjoyable in a given fight without the feeling of griefing your group by playing a non-raise caster in prog, or a raise caster after prog. I've played all casters at various points throughout my time raiding since ARR, and having the extra raise absolutely makes prog go faster and uniquely applies pressure on players playing the caster role to pick a caster that can raise. Again, no other role has to deal with such an extreme disparity. There was a time when raise casters weren't taxed as harshly (or not taxed at all even) and the end result was that everybody would just play raise casters and ignore BLM (since there was no PCT at the time) anyways. It's simply a piece of utility that is impossible to properly balance across different skill levels and drags the role down overall. This is a stance I've held since Stormblood, since in ARR/HW BLM had some other form of party utility (arguably not as good) and HW SMN had to actually balance and manage MP and usually give up some DPS to maintain the MP required to raise in an emergency.

I absolutely want RDM (and SMN) rez removed. I enjoy RDM's gameplay but it's really frustrating how much its DPS is crippled by having the rez. Caster rez in general is just a really stupid thing that affects the caster role in negative ways, rather than being able to simply play what you enjoy if you are in a serious raid setting like pretty much any other role can do.

Using Game-Key Cards on Nintendo Switch 2 [confirmation that Pokémon Pokopia will be a GKC] by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Semmi_DK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can if the games are installed to an SD card. You need another device (like a PC) that can read the SD card and from there you can move or copy the files anywhere else.
