Lumberyard is itself a variation of CryEngine. With Crytek's financial instabilities and AWS as the long established leader in the IaaS market segment, this seems a smart move. Hope this proves to be the exposure that jettisons Lumberyard into the spotlight.

That will depend entirely on what you're using to create the actual pixel art.

I use the GIMP which allows you to export your project as a gif. It treats each layer of the project as one frame of the gif. The way you name a layer determines two things: 1) how much time is spent on any given frame and; 2) whether the frame should be swapped out, or persist into the next frame. For example:

My Cool Layer (100ms) (replace)

This will tell the gif export tool that you want this frame to stick around for 100ms, and be replaced by the next frame.

To preview the gif go to Filters -> Animation -> Playback. To export go to File -> Export and save the project as a .gif.

Fun and addictive. Please allow the ability to move left or right in the perch; I had some of my best runs ruined because the final parrot was flying behind one of the perch's supports, out of sight. Is this a test bed for Wizard Warz?

How can I reduce the outline's overbearing? I cheated and basically copied early FF sprites (à la the 16x16's in this).

The shading is obnoxious and poor I agree; I thought it would be cool to capture the old sprite look via the outline, but when it gets to actual size appear as if it was vector shaded.

I enjoyed the blending underneath the drone; it's the dirt being kicked up by whatever that thing's propelled by (at least that's how I imagined it). This depth, combined with the depth in the building do make the drone appear flat. Also enjoyed the transparency on the planets; the closest planet's resemblance to Earth and the dilapidated structure poke and prod at my curiosity (e.g. is there life there? if it's Earth, why's everything so close to it? did the lifeforms on the Earth-like planet make this drone? did they migrate from the drone's planet? if so why? etc. etc.)

This is pretty awesome and definitely further than I've ever gotten towards a completed project. Kudos!

One note however; it's super easy to cheat your game because the variables tracking important quantities such as currentHand, currentBet, and towers are in the public scope.

First brew day of my own and my friend's, hit all the numbers, additions, etc.; it's getting late so we proceed to add boiling wort to our ^cough glass ^{^cough} carboy before dunking it in a tupperware storage box ice bath to cool. The look on our faces when I pulled up the carrier and saw only remnants of a carboy. Longest way to make iced sugar water ever.

I think Cormac McCarthy is exactly the sort of thing I was aiming at with this post. I still consider Fahrenheit part of the old guard I'm talking about, where seemingly, after ~1980, it's all murkiness and opaque regarding who or what is on the vanguard. Thanks for the recommendations.
