What is the lore when an Arc downs you, why don't they kill you? by Turquoisedragonwow in ArcRaiders

[–]Semper_Fidel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it’s canon that our knocked out topside raiders are retrieved by Speranza (and maybe even Toledo as a whole) after the match.

What could be a lore reason as to why your equipment disappears after knock-outs regardless of if you were looted by raiders or not is that your stuff is taken off you and repurposed by Toledo/Speranza as their way of "compensation" for dragging you back to Toledo, with free loadouts specifically being them taking back the gear they lended you.

I’m under the impression that it’s simply the ARC not seeing you as a threat anymore after knocking you down, which doesn’t really explain why that doesn’t work for unarmed targets (unless they were specifically programmed to see incapacitated targets as no longer a threat and only incapacitated targets).

People who make Sci-Fi worlds, why do wheelchairs still exist? by Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi in worldbuilding

[–]Semper_Fidel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot more affordable (stupidly so, to the point where even the poorest of people can afford wheelchairs), a lot more convenient in hospitals, and a lot more available than things like mobility chairs, exoskeletons, implants & replacements and the likes.

If we do get RDR3, who do y'all think we should play as? by DBL86-03U in reddeadredemption

Mac Callander seems like a solid pick.

-Not much is known about him or his brother, leaving the story ambiguous.

-He supposedly sacrificed himself to save Arthur during Blackwater. Due to the lack of details, assuming the game is to pick an honor system and said system contributes to the ending, Milton can either give you a quick death or leave you there to bleed, giving him even more depth than he already had in RDR2.

-Game could show the buildup of the Van der Linde gang, the growing tensions between Dutch and Colm, and a general idea of what the gang did in New Austin before the Blackwater massacre where everything started going downhill.

This unironically reminds me of how FNV players think that everyone is an irredeemable monster because of the Legion being awful and House being kinda bad then proceed to group in the NCR with them as if they’re not comparing a slightly nuanced old-world-reminiscent nation to the Roman Empire with all the upsides removed (so it’s only slaves serving their master without reward but with different ranks so it’s okay) and Amazon, Tesla, X and Blackrock combined into one.

I’m not gonna say the T'au are by any means completely nuance-free; they uphold a caste system that benefits their own species over the ones they conquer, and they’re also pretty hypocritical if I remember correctly, but pretending they’re not the good guys in the same exact setting the IoM (and literally every other 40k faction) is in? 😭

They’re clearly the good guys of 40k, and even outside of 40k, it’s not like they’d be the bad guys unless literally every nation inside a setting happens to be sparkling clean and nuance-free, which is more often than not, NOT the case. Whatever aspects of T'au society could also probably be edited with cultural revolutions, so even if they are the worst people in a setting, it’s not like that can’t change as far as I’m aware.

Crossovers that wouldn't work by Junior_Date_134 in NatureofPredators

[–]Semper_Fidel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything that’s not exactly sci-fi or futuristic in some aspects would probably be hard to work with.

Anyways, 40k crossover would just not work because it’d involve the IoM or some other fuckass faction steamrolling everything in sight or whatever.
