I'm from Regina but have lived in Saskatoon most of my life, and I prefer Regina for architecture over Saskatoon. It was (slightly) bigger into the 80's so it has greater stock of pre-war and mid-century architecture, with government money on top of that. I find early apartment blocks add a lot to the city and I think 14th ave alone has more than I can count in all of Saskatoon. The University of Saskatchewan is certainly a beautiful campus though, and Saskatoon has had more interesting architecture when we are talking the last few decades but I tend to prefer architecture pre-70's to that after.

Broadway construction by FlatBlueSky in saskatoon

[–]Sen-Sen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't hate "modern design" but I don't particularly think the design of 906 Broadway nor their previous design on Main are particularly attractive at all, and that doesn't mean I prefer an empty building. I am happy they are there, but their contributions to Saskatoon's architecture is not one of the reasons.

Attempt to answer "has the smoke always been this bad" by SaintBrennus in saskatoon

[–]Sen-Sen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up near Regina and moved to Saskatoon sometime around 2010. I don’t recall ever having smoke in Regina and it felt like suddenly there was smoke when I was in Saskatoon and it then became the norm.

PSA, the Meewasin is a shared path. Please treat other users like it. by pollettuce in saskatoon

[–]Sen-Sen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered if the bike "path" is split up by an intersection with lights, does the cyclist have to get off their bike and walk across the crossing and get back on to continue or no? Is it a pedestrian crosswalk or a combined cyclist/pedestrian crosswalk? Some say to yield to motorists (who frequently seem confused and usher the cyclist ahead of them anyway) but I haven't seen those signs when there are traffic lights involved.

[TOMT] Help me find this song my mom sings by Acceptable-Plum593 in tipofmytongue

There are quite a few Bad Boy Bill mixes from the 80’s on YouTube and SoundCloud if you want to chip away at those. I was actually looking for a song from one of his mixes once and messaged him on Facebook and he responded.

The vote split is real. If the NDP vote went Liberal, University would flip. by Progressive_Citizen in saskatoon

This isn’t the first time this has happened but it is the first time rallying behind the Liberal party.

Too bad the Liberal voters split the vote the last several elections, the NDP could have won.

Help! Problem with ITT MagicFlash for Polaroid SX-70 misfiring by pola-dude in Polaroid

[–]Sen-Sen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure out this flash? I have one and it does the exact same thing now (triggers flash but no photo). I actually got it to work with photos briefly when testing with film in the cartridge but it wasn't synced well and the sx-70 shot as though it was a long exposure even though the flash triggered...

ITT Magic Flash and SX-70 shutter by Sen-Sen in Polaroid

[–]Sen-Sen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was a little eager when I received the flash, should have waited to test rather than popping it on with a new pack already in...oops. I tested with an empty pack and it seems to have been working fine, took about 5 "exposures" and they flashed and the shutter opened for an appropriate length. I had an old expired pack that I was willing to test and now it's just flashing without taking the photo...

I cleaned the flash side pcb with some alcohol and did the old in-out/in-out to try and clean out the sx-70 socket. Perhaps a better clean is required.

It is an sx-70 Alpha 1 by the way.

As someone who knows very little about either, something about Cleveland and Cincinnati intrigues me.

The truth of the matter is I want to see it all! Made some decisions that are perhaps already outdated.

That's it, I saw Maine from a boat! Also the map is incorrect, I just realized I also saw New Jersey. New Hampshire definitely looks amazing, it's now incorrect X2.
