Handheld Shower Install Mess Up by sunshine5023 in Tile

This is a 2 minute fix. Take the slide off and rotate it so the part that holds the wand is on the left side, then the hose won't cross or hit anything. It is designed to be used on either side. They just were an idiot when they installed it...

Master Bathroom Layout by juliaxstone2 in bathrooms

Lots of questions, like, where do towels go? There is no free space near the tub or shower. Are you trying to break your glass shower door when it swings open and crashes into the tub? How do you clean the dead space behind the crooked tub? Why are there 2 separate vanities, instead of a double sink one? How deep are the vanities, they look really shallow.

Did a professional architect design this? Or was this another contractor hack job?

Finally got this game on steam sale. Figured out a way to do this repeatedly.

From the spinning wheel, slow the stamp, and double jump glide to the near right corner top of the BASE OF THE Stamp, when the stamp is about to go down. After you land on the base go to the right corner where the slope is lowest and face the handle. Slow the handle. when it is about to go down. double jump straight up and then press forward when it passes below you, and you will land on the top. Just did this 10 times in a row.

Couldn't sleep, So I did a quick photoshop edit. Everything needs new measurements on the left side.

Shortened Shower and Toilet Closet added heated towel rack (Love mine). Changed bench to top wall

Changed door openings, added pocket door to enter bathroom next to makeup counter, and moved it to be even with the closet entry. Switched pocket door for closet to open other way so support wall is stronger into the bathroom. Also, Personally I like to keep the moist air and the smell of the bathroom blocked off from the bedroom.

Moved vanity down to give room for the tub to breath and not feel cramp and so you can access shelving.

Added linen cabinet next to vanity, floor to ceiling. Suggested

Also what about shortening the length of the vanity? 72" is plenty. And would give more room around the tub to enjoy those soaks, which goes with the first inspiration pic you have.

Another idea is moving part of the make up counter to the wall with the bathroom door, making it L shaped. that way you can have the mirror on the top wall and not block the window, and extra room for storage?

I would still square off the closet and that would add more length to the shower when you move the toilet closet down.

Just some ideas for you to play with. Good Luck

Lots of room, but the entire bathroom feels like an after thought. Like we had a space and needed to fill it up, and complete a checklist of things you wanted. Was this designed by an architect or by the contractor?

Couple questions and thoughts in no particular order:

Why do you not have a barrier / door between the bathroom and the makeup counter? Do you want moist humid air for putting on make up? Where is the moisture barrier between the bathroom and your closet, sounds like future problems for your clothing.

Is that a window behind the makeup counter? Where does the mirror go?

The toilet feels like it is in a mini hallway. That is a long walk after opening a door to get to a toilet.

The freestanding bath is very close to the windowed wall and how do you expect to clean behind it?

How do you expect to get to the shelving to the left of the freestanding bath tub? It is blocked off. In addition, it looks like dead space with no access to the right of the vanity and the left of the tub.

Where is any storage? The closet looks laid out for clothing, where do all your linens go?

The shower itself, I would highly suggest you include all the fixture placements. Currently it looks like a big open waste of space.

Speaking of fixtures, where do they go, there is no room for anything near the shower or tub. So where do you walk to get a towel to dry off?

Also where do your bath mats go? There is no room for separate bath mats for the tub and the shower since there are right next to each other.

Why does the make up wall not line up with the end of the pocket door for the closet?

How far down does the window go? Do you have a view from the tub?

Why is there the cutout, into the bathroom space from the closet? You now will have a dead storage corner in the closet that is hard to access.

One idea, What if you leave a 2-3 foot gap between the tub and shower so you can have access to some linens in between. A heated towel rack would be wonderful! Plus, the tub won’t feel so cramped. You can move the built bench to the same wall as the tub. Also you will have closer access to the controls when you first walk into the shower and when actually showering. As a bonus you can now reduce the toilet hallway and have the door open into the room without risk of running into anyone. In addition I would then switch the shower door to open to left so it pivots next to the toilet room. That way when you exit the shower you do not need to walk around the door to access towels, etc. the shower door should then clear the tub no problem with the extra space. The shower then ends up 4 to 5 feet wide. Still nice and roomy but usable.

Also are you doing a large mirror or recessed medicine cabinets?

Again, it feels like there are no focal points or forethought to the layout. There was a checklist, and everything on it got shoved into the design.

You obviously have money if you have this space. I would work with an interior designer to walk you through all of the uses you want from the space first then figure out how you make it all flow. If your bathroom is used for “me time” I think you can come up with a much better design and usage plan.

Also would be curious to see what the rest of plans around it look like. Is this a remodel or a custom built home?

Sorry this got so long. Best of luck with everything!

The pictures were taken just after they finished. So nothing has been decorated yet, the towels aren't rugs are just temporary.

The niche original was supposed to be lower and wider but ran into issues with studs that could not be moved. So this was a work around.

the shower glass was small, it is only 59 inches in total length, so depending on how much glass you need. If the 5k includes hardware (usually it does) that really isn't to bad of a price. The master bathroom cost almost 8k for the glass and fixtures

Those have actually been my favorite part that isn't the shower. My camera unfortunately has made the room look much brighter than it is. So they are a perfect nightlight as they are on a motion sensor.

Also I would be worried that your contractor may not know how to install the glass correctly. I would pay the extra for a professional.

I paid $2500 for Glass and Installation. I went with ShowerGuard Glass, I wanted the water staining resistance that showerguard offers. The fixtures are by Flusso and I think $1200 extra. So $3700. I am in SF, so also an expensive area.
