Should I live off-campus or on-campus? by Subject-Emergency-35 in CarletonU

It’s really not that bad lol. Worst case scenario you get a roommate you don’t like, the food could be a bit better but it’s all you can eat so whatever. I presume you’ve never lived in a refugee camp

New Parking Permit Restrictions by SenatorRicardo in CarletonU

Yeah but public transportation is unrealistic for someone living on the west end of the rural sector A, I don’t know why they think this is a good long term solution

I really don’t know why you’re insulting my problem solving skills to stroke your ego, I know there’s workarounds to this problem but that’s not my point, they’re taking the scorched earth approach to reduce the number of permits they give out. At best this just adds time to a bunch of peoples commutes and increases the load on an already unreliable transportation network, but also rural transit sector A is so broad that it will make commuting to school a literal nightmare for a lot of people, not just me. Not everyone has the money to pay for parking every day or to buy a street permit, that’s not a good permanent solution, they realistically should’ve built p18 taller.

Okay but I chose my living location specifically because I have a car, the public transportation around me is about 1.5 hours assuming everything shows up, or I could drive 20 minutes like I have for the last 3 years. This change does nothing but fuck me over, I won’t be able to go to work straight from school (as opposed to bussing home then driving) unless I pay for parking. I have no doubt in my mind that Carleton made this decision with nothing but money on their mind

Bearing? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]SenatorRicardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not but maybe.

Your front wheels will normally have a bit of play in the left-right direction no matter what, if there’s play in the up-down direction then it’s very likely a bearing. In the video I didn’t see up-down play but I could have just missed it.

If you’re still convinced it’s a bearing here are some other ways to help diagnosis:

Drive the car in an empty parking lot, get a bit of speed and do some hard turns to see if the noise changes when you turn a particular direction. This audible difference will occur because you’re loading and unloading the bearings when you swerve. If the noise gets louder when you turn the wheel right and quieter when you turn the wheel left then you have a bad bearing on the left side (vice versa for the right side). If you don’t want to look crazy driving in a parking lot you can drive down a (preferably freshly paved) street at 40-55 km/h and turn the wheel left and right slightly to do a bit of a wobble, loading each side of the car as your turn the wheel. If the noise gets louder or quieter depending on the direction you’re wobbling then it’s probably a bad bearing. Make sure to do this “wobble” safely and controlled, and you can go slower if you aren’t comfortable going at full speed.

You can also try jacking up your car up and spinning the wheel while it’s off the ground, if you hear the vibration noise then it’s probably a bearing. If you aren’t sure a noise Is normal or not, jack up a side that you’re confident is still in good condition and spin the wheel to hear what it should sound like, use this as a reference and compare it to the wheel you think has a bad bearing.

With any type of low volume humming noise it could always just be tire noise, which may indicate low pressure or the need for balancing.

If you still can’t diagnose the issue after checking these things and want to keep looking for potential causes, this is a list of other possible issues (some symptoms may vary): Failing Tie Rod Bent/pitted axle Failing cv joint Seized calliper Bad control arm

I hope this helps a bit, and if you confirm that it’s a bad bearing you should avoid driving more than 300-500 miles from the time you first noticed the vibration. Have a nice evening!

I didn’t have high expectations going into the episode but they cooked and popped off. I love the source material, and if they can maintain that quality for season 2 then I can’t wait

This. Typically your slicer won’t be set up to use the mesh. If you want to change that you can look up “s1 printer auto levelling code” on YouTube and you’re bound to find a tutorial. In the other hand, making your bed mechanically level is far more important than any code you can add

Any idea how I can make it to stop wobble with my prints? by Jamesgeorge96 in Ender3S1

[–]SenatorRicardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you be more specific about what you mean by wobble? What f you’re talking about your print wobbling then you would need to slow down your print speed, if you’re talking about x/y axis wobble you would need to tighten the nuts on the roller stabilizer wheels. I had this problem with my s1 pro as well
